I hope Chris Chibnall proves me wrong because I think he's the worst person they could have chosen for new showrunner. I can think of people worse. Mary Whitehouse Michael Grade Lawerence Miles True. Mary Whitehouse and Michael Grade especially.

Why would the Doctor frown that face though? "I'm the Doctor...and I pose as hospital patients in a coma!" The doctor did take the face of a man who shot in the back once. "I'm the Doctor...and I'm shot at by people!"

For me Moffat was at his best in series 5, for me the best series since the show came back. After that he has kind of declined with the odd spark here and there. I felt like I was watching S9 out of habit (and to drool over Jenna) to the point where I am not even that bothered at the lack of new episodes till 2017. It was definitely time for the Moff to step down
Chris Chibnall as the new guy, well let's just see. I've not seen touchwood or broadchurch so I'll just go in with my mind open

I'll hold my opinion on Chibnall until Series 11.
Somebody said about there being an alternate/original cut to Power of Three. Is that available anywhere.
Well its my Doctor Who Animated dvd's to the rescue lmao

Excellent news, it's time i think Moffat left, Hell Bent was a very disappointing finale & Husbands Of River Song wasn't great, Chris Chibnall is a good choice, i loved 42 & Torchwoods Sleeper so let's give him the benefit of the doubt before we all judge what he has in store for the series. "Sleeper" was by James Moran, not Chibnall.

Everything was there in those last two series - humour, emotion, wit, silliness, darkness, scariness, incidental music - but everything had been finely honed and kept in its place. Despire grizzles about series 9 being 'the Clara show', I think the balance has been perfect. I hope Mr M returns to write for the show even when he's stepped down as showrunner.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Always excited when someone new comes on board. Mr Chibnall knows the show and has extensive experience doing other things as well, which means a reasonably new pair of eyes and perspective. I'll miss Mr Moffat's work as he is one of my favourite TV writers and managed to steer the show into some exciting new directions and tried to always keep it fresh. Firstly - I agree with each and every word. Moffat's been a fave of mine since Press Gang 20 years ago through Coupling and Jekyll and onto Who. I'll always keep an eye out for him. Secondly - I love that dog in your pic She's beautiful, isn't she?

And don't worry about Capaldi - he's signed up. Not for a calendar year (2016) but for the series (10). So we'll get at least 13 more with him. That's been public for a while now from the man himself. No, I knew that. What I meant was, I would say that there was a slight chance that if Series 10 aired in 2016, Capaldi might have stayed for a Series 11 in 2017. But I don't think he'd do a fifth year (2018) which is a shame. Also is Hungry Earth / Cold Blood really considered a bad one? I thought the 1000 years resolution was a nice touch and that it was a good counterpoint to the original Third Doctor story. 42 and Night Terrors were largely forgettable, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three were both good but all over the place, with PoT being my favourite episode from 7A (even if the ending is crap). But I will say I agree he hasn't written a Big Classic Episode yet, where Moffat most certainly had. But that's okay. He's got experience making good TV and he'll have a few years to deliver his classics.

I think the best aspect of all the negativity about Chibnall is that it's ages and ages till he actually takes over. Plenty of time for it to die down and for people to get bores of the sound of their own moans. I was already hyped for Series 10 but now? If Time Of The Doctor is anything to go by, Moffat will wrap up his loose threads as much as possible so there could be a LOT of interesting stuff in 2017.

I'm seeing the same folks who moaned about ratings last year now moaning about Series 10 beig delayed for 6 months. You can't win with some people.
Who can't be on in the summer - ignore talk of Olympics, it would be too soon to make to air even without that. The earliest a series could come out would be late Autumn again. Which would be post-Strictly once more and the ratings would suffer for the late slot again. Spring 2017 is really the only logical answer. You've got to believe that's the plan for Chibnall's first series too, Spring '18. Gives him a full year of planning (he's still making Broadchurch 3 so will be busy tiill the Autumn of this year at least.

I guess I should finally start Broadchurch 2. Watched the first two episodes but didn't think it was as good as series 1. But now I feel I need to watch more of Chibnall and I am not that interested in the little I saw of Torchwood. He also wrote two eps of Life on Mars.

If you want to look a bit deeper, United is a wonderful piece of TV (David Tennant and DOugray Scott star) and The Great Train Robbery is a good two-part series with one episode from the criminals POV and the next from the cops. Jim Broadbent and Luke Evans star in that one. Two of Chibnall's best.

I bet we can expect a grand epic finale with Jenny, Strax, Vastra, River Song, Missy, Clara, Ashildir/Me, Amy, Rory and possibly Captain Jack all returning akin to The Stolen Earth/Journey's End.
