Dragon Age: Inquisition. I'm impressed that BioWare was able to create an MMO game for single player

Populous: The Beginning This is an old favourite from the PlayStation days that I bought on GoodOldGames. It doesn't have the booming narration that I loved, but the graphics and interface a big improvement.
It's so intensive though. I've given myself a bit of RSI in my back wing and wrist clicking and scrolling my way through conquest. I guess that means I'm enjoying it though. No cheats, about half-way through. Some great vintage level/puzzle design.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog For a free game, I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. A fun mystery with some great silly character dialogue, and some pretty tough and engaging endless runner segements. And at a lean 3 hours, it's a nice compact package. Definitely recommend.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (on good old 3DS)
My second venture into Zelda franchise, and I quite like it. Its art style is quite cute and actually is complemented by the 3D effect (which I didn’t find with the remake of Ocarina of Time). Sure the difficulty is a little easy in places, as it was rare that the dungeon bosses put up much of a fight, but the puzzles kept it lively. Plus the story was a nice spin on the usual formula.
That said I did accidentally made the final boss considerably harder for myself by not being aware that the other tunics were a mechanic, so every blow of his took down a good couple of my hearts. Oops.
I have acquired the 3D remake of Majora’s Mask but might wait a bit before jumping into that and dig into some other games from the DS days. I did also recently discover my mum’s old GameBoy, which impressively for a console considerably older than I am does still work (after she cleaned out some battery leakage) and has a copy of Link’s Awakening still inside. So who knows maybe I’ll give that a whirl.

Lotta big RPGs this summer. Maybe some of y'all are playing Baldur's Gate or Starfield or Shadow Gambit, or thinking of playing one of those big titles.... but if you're looking for something a bit shorter, and maybe a bit sweeter, I'd like to very emphatically recommend Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. I've only had time to put a couple hours in it so far, but I am absolutely in love with the game. Absolutely stellar voice acting (pretty much everyone's an A-Lister), great writing so far, a very compelling take on the Ancient Greek pantheon (if you liked Hades' interpretation of the myths, you'll love what they do in Stray Gods just as much, if not more), and really good music.
It's a bit of a stretch to call it an RPG: it's mostly just dialog choices, but the choices do seem to have a pretty firm effect on the course of the story, as well as very pronounced, immediate effects on how the songs play out -- each one is effectively a 'duel.' The only thing that really makes it an RPG, in the traditional sense, rather than a narrative adventure game is that you can kind of 'build' your character a bit differently -- you can choose to be clever, fiery or kind, and whichever you pick will give you extra dialog options. It's not much, though, and doesn't feel all that important since the big set-piece moments of the game are the song battles, where you'll have access to those three "styles" no matter what.
So, while Baldur's Gate 3 may wind up being the best game of the decade, Stray Gods feels like it stands a good chance to be my 'best game of the year'. Really impressed with it so far.

Am enjoying the Sea of Thieves "Monkey Island" event. Stuck, but enjoying it. I did get unstuck, but I've not been so keen on trying to play the actual game. I don't mind being killed by monsters, but having some other player attack me while I'm fishing just to pinch a poxy hat, did get up my nose. Well, maybe no longer!
Meanwhile, looking forward to the last "Monkey Island" episode this time next week.

Finally tackled Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. It is janky - this is very much a game you 'had to be there for' to really get the most out of it.

Started playing Death Trash, which is a pretty cool Fallout-inspired indie RPG, currently in Early Access. It's pretty fun and interesting, but I feel like the Fallout comparisons that drew me to it in the first place were a bit... off. It's not really very dialog-heavy and it doesn't feel like there are many different options for resolving quests... but, conversely, it also manages to have a very simple and engaging combat system (real-time combat, even) with a really solid UI, which definitely cannot be said for the classic Fallouts. UI also has some neat little QoL features that, now that I've seen them, make me wonder why they haven't been industry-standard for decades. Like when you read a book/document, you can memorize it to record the contents in your journal; and any time you pick up an item... it's auto-sorted in your inventory, so there's a lot less fiddling around with menus. You can also just click on any point on the mini-map to walk to that point. Not sure if I'd recommend it to anyone since it's still in EA, but it's certainly in better shape than most EA games I've played. Starfield, dull dull dull. Lies Of P, enjoying this very much. I like the shipbuilding mini-game. It's pretty much the only thing I've done in Starfield....

And now onto Lords of Shadow 2. Enjoyed the first, and the 3DS spinoff, so I'm curious to see how this shapes up.

Chronicles of Myrtana- Archolos
Sitting at home with COVID and not allowed to get back to work. Did painting and listening to audios, but also remembered this total conversion mod.
Years back, I fell in love with the Gothic games. The writing is amazing and to this day, Gothic 2 Night of the Raven is one of my all time favorite games. So I fired up Archolos. It got overwhelming positive reviews. It has 60 hours of playtime. It is pure nostalgia.
The game is simply wonderful. Brings me right back. And the fan community who wrote this did an AMAZING job. WOW. This game is totally FREE. And the writing is better than most of the stuff I played in the past years which I paid for!
Highly recommended. Especially if you know and love the old Gothic games.

On my little tour into my old DS games, revisited the first Professor Layton game. It’s fun (if a little frustrating at times depending on the puzzle) and has a very nice little mystery at its heart.
And I’ve now moved on to something completely different; Majora’s Mask 3D for first time. Felt fitting to play around Halloween given masks and general spookiness. So far, more intense than I’m used to from Zelda and I’m very curious how it plays out.

Spider-Man 2. Consumed my long weekend in a way I didn’t expect! Currently sitting at 91% completion. Enhances on the previous two instalments in every single way, making for a truly great sequel. I think Miles gets shafted a little bit in terms of content, but there’s still some lovely moments.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart The early game felt like it was trying a bit too hard to show off the hardware capabilities, but it wasn't long until I got back into the RAC groove. Especially once you unlock the Dodge and Rocket Boots, the game really comes alive. And the gender-swapped variants in Rivet and Kit were pitch-perfect.
Spider-man 2 Again, the beginning's a bit front-loaded, but all in all, there's no denying this is 'the' best Spider-man game made. Even dethroned the PS2 game for best web-swinging (once you turn the assistance off). I just wish there was a little more to do at the end of the game after you've finished everything.

After rage quiting last year I gone back and completed Elden Ring, it was unfinished business & I had to prove myself I could beat it.
I'm now retired from playing From Software games.
