Yesterday I listened to Lucie Miller / To The Death whilst wandering around town. No matter how many times I listen to it, I almost always 'well up' at "the sacrifice"...

It’s been
The Avengers Steed and Mrs Peel-CSA-Vol 1-Return To Castle DE’ath-Simon Barnard/Paul Morris The Avengers Steed and Mrs Peel-CSA-Vol 1-The Norse Code-Johnny Dorney
Full of weirdo over the top characters that I like.
The Avengers Steed and Mrs Peel-CSA-Vol 2-The Mad Hatter-Matt Fitton The Avengers Steed and Mrs Peel-CSA-Vol 2-The Secret Six-John Dorney
am quite content never having read the comic origins and if I happen to pass them by...I may enjoy I may not but as I came the the Older Avengers through the arms of Purdey/Gambit and Steed I cannot say am an acolyte if I see them I watch them I smile at them....and I know for a fact that if they had been audios I would probably have enjoyed them more. The Second Volume also I feel the duo gel more and the repartee seems to flow better I guess the first volumes they were settling with each other. The gritty realism of the excellent Lost Stories. actually makes me hunger for a NEW BF range of detective fiction based in any era except VICTORIAN London(seriously done to death and with no crossover into any other range 😜🤭😉)

The Nightmare Fare-Graham Williams
i had only never had this or Mission to Magnus and this was my first ever listen to it and I have to say I very much enjoyed it it like the other lost stories would have fitted very well into the season it was meant to. The Doctor has shades of how cruel he can actually be to beings who cross him...Shades of 7 and 10 (with 7’s adaptated tale). I very much enjoy David in His Toymaker role ( was Solitaire before this or after?) but The Magic Mousetrap will always be my favourite and still sits at Number 2 of my Top 10 Dr who related stories. But I have to say Nightmare Fair has a lot of audio visual treats and atmosphere....and for record I bloody hated Blackpool lol

Am sticking with Who for the close of the evening
Am saving
8DA-Ravenous 2 -Better Watch Out/Fairytale of Salzburg-John Dorney the darker versions of It’s A Wonderful Life. for a Christmas listen
and going with my Where Eagles Dare/Ice Station Zebra type audio tale and that is high complements
8DA-Ravenous 3-Deeptime Frontier-Matt Fitton all out, action packed, horror filled doctor Who adventure at its best
and yes ALL three are in my Top Ten adventures but but BWO/FOS I count as one story 😉
I guess Audio Doctor Who really has thrilled me more than The Televised NU Who as Classic Who is ingrained in me I actually remember the thrill of waiting for the conclusion to Doom Coalition 3’s cliff hanger ahhhhh those were the days lol

Och it’s bedtime but day off tomorrow so time to move away from Who and onto one of my favourite ranges if not THE favourite at times
Dark Shadows -Bloodline-Volume 1-Alan Flanagan/Will Howells/Aaron Lamond and Rob Morris
There’s a big marriage about to take place
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and everyone thinks there’s a huge TV show to take into account but he’ll,if you can cope with Who lol...
I do like the tag at the back of the CD
“Welcome Back to Collinsport Until Death do you part” 😂

Well, as we're now in December, on the way to/from work I listened to 'On No It Isn't!' for the first time in about ten years... It was a good starting point for the series. I did get a confused look from one of my supervisors during my break though, when I started humming along to 'Row Your Boat'...

Love and War (Jacqueline Rayner)
Adapted from the novel by Paul Cornell. This is it folks, the novel that basically created the whole concept of the Doctor Who spin-off now translated into audio form. The story is fantastic, suitably graphic befitting a tale from the New Adventures thankfully without all the unnecessary associated baggage that comes with the territory.
Lisa Bowerman is brilliant as always and I honestly can’t imagine anyone else in the role. It’s also a great character showcase for Ace as well.
It does make me wonder what the plan going forward was for these novel adaptations had they been successful. Adaptations of the Timewyrm stories perhaps?
