I've never met any fan girls online or offline who acted in the way described here. Female fans I've met were incredibly receptive to Calapadi's casting and subsquent stories and age certiantly wasn't a factor. Isn't the whole Ten fan girls thing a myth, anyway perpuarted by the 'boys club' of fandom? This is getting REALLY close to gatekeeping, guys and I don't think you guys reliase just how alienating your comments are. There are a lot of new people coming in to Big Finish or through Ten's stories might want to engage with the Big Finish side of fandom more and we have the reputation of being one of the more welcoming hospitable places of fandom. Let's keep it that way, shall we? Fan girls already find it difficult to move in geekdom generally. Thank you very much for driving home my point for me, michaelhocking .

You're talking about fangirls in general. We're talking about Tennant fangirls, who are only fans of David Tennant and any future Doctor who isn't young like him is automatically 'rubbish'. To be fair, YOU are the one who brought up "Fan girls". We were responding to your perceived idea that the "fan girl" stereotype should be all over the limited release but aren't. The issue is probably more to do with Audio only having a small following (relative to Who in general) and many overseas fans will have bought the download because of cost. The only thing I will say is that WE are ALL Doctor Who Fan boys and girls . Cheers Tony Absolutely, Tony, and thanks for pointing that out. Really, the constant disdainful reference to "fangirls" is really disrespectful to women and girls who are genuine fans of Doctor Who. I hope it will stop.

Agree 100% This whole discussion of "fangirls" is really disturbing to me.

Yes, thanks. I do not take offense easily and I have been chuckling through this whole ridiculous conversation. For all intents and purposes I could be called a Tennant "fangirl". He was my first Doctor and the reason I started watching Doctor Who in the first place. I became such a fan that I searched out everything that I could find that he was in because I think he's such a good actor. It so happens that I'm 47 years old, so the thought of being a fan"girl" is kind of flattering.

Everyone has an innate defensiveness for their first Doctor. Some of us are lucky that our first Doctors were good ones though

Agreed, there's some truly stunning work there. I hope he's one of the BF regulars.
