Do we need to hear DC 1 for it to make sense? Big Finish are trying to make their Eight box sets as approchable as possbile for new listeners, so I'd imagine the first box set isn't prequsite listening. I'd still listen to it, however - it's a fantastic box set! I was under the impression that the DC sets were supposed to describe one overarching story arc. (In contrast to the DE sets, which didn't have a set plan when the first one came out). Either way, heed his remarks about the first one bumbles. DC1 really is a top-notch set.

This downloading on my poor old PC right now. I never knew 29 minutes could take so long.

Just finished part 1. It was...not what I was expecting, but a very solid episode nonetheless. I rather liked the tie-in with the Pertwee/UNIT era, even though I about broke my brain trying to figure out which story it was referring to (hint: NOT one that we've seen LOL). And the ending was very enticing too--based on how it ended, I'm dying of anticipation to start episode 2. Unfortunately, I'm too close to my work start time to get through it! Agh!

Listening now to episode 1, story is intriguing so far, but disappointed by the sound treatment on the vord (is that right?) and when the characters are remote from the main action is making it very hard, sometimes impossible to hear what they are saying. The vord with the Doctor in The Tardis is particularly hard to hear, sounding to me like an old TV turned up too loud but coming to me through a wall.

Finished part one of this hotly anticipated release. Nice story - but slight; terrific location and the usual great playing by the cast. {Spoiler} So, the Voord join the ranks of Doctor Who aliens whose homeworld has been destroyed, and they want to settle on Earth. The Doctor says no. It won't win any points for originality, plus the ending was fairly perfunctory. It was the location, and use of location, that sold 'Beachhead' to me. Very visual, and the Voord fitted in well with that. Interesting lead-in to the second story as well ...

Maybe more will become obvious on listening to the rest of the set. Roll on this evening's train ride!

(Had to strain my ears) Enjoyed the story though!

(Had to strain my ears) Enjoyed the story though! Another one here. I put it down to my hearing or headphones but I really struggled to hear the Voord too. I thought the story was ok, but nothing special. It'll be interesting to see if it has any bearing on the overall set or whether it was a completely separate story. Cheers Tony
