Whilst I don't think there were any stand-out episodes in this boxset, like The Red Lady in volume 1, I thought the quality of the episodes were more consistent this time around - with the first boxset, they had two really good episodes to start with, the last two dropped to average. However, I think all of the stories in this set were good, no disappointments here.

Another first rate box set. Caleeera is an excellent addition to The Doctor's rogues gallery, a terrifying, but all-too real tragic figure and what exactly is The Doom Coalition?

Beachhead - An entertaining 'bussiness as usual' tale before the. I do think more could have been made from it's elements (Lilly's headaches, humans thrown back without technology agasint an alien aggressor) it's still a very good slice of Who. While done with the best of intentions, I do wish Lilly and Ethel's relationship could have been more explict rather then a twist.
Scenes from Her Life - Dorney adds an all-too real dimension to the archiac nature of Time Lord society and Caleera is a fascinating tragic as she is terrifying figure and a brilliant addition to The Doctor's Big Bads.
The Gift - An very entertaining historical adventure.
The Sonomacer - A great finale, although as an Australian I did cringe at the didgeridoo and 'walkabout' riffs and that feeling didn't really alleviate when their charcisation didn't really extend beyond 'spiritual alien race'. So, River's along for the ride. The actions of those linked to The Doom Coalition seem to have consequences beyond Eight's timeline.....what does this entail? The Eleven in love! Well, most of him. And Caleera's tragedy becomes ever more so.

I'mm getting a Timewyrm vibe from the Sonomancer. An ambitious being suppressed by their own people and the Doctor's companion unwittingly gives them the ability to traverse space and time as they please. She's even messing with future history like the Timewyrm did (Timewyrm: Exodus, although that wasn't intended by her).

Highly enjoyed Scenes from Her Life...I was confused at first with the jumping between times but I felt it all came together beautifully in the end. The Time Lords created this villain through their fear and suppression and the Doctor accidentally unleashed her. I also liked Helen's role in this story. She empathized with Caleera because of what she has been through although in this case that empathy was a danger. Still I really like that Helen's past was not forgotten and was actually in a way essential to this story. It was Helen's empathy and plea to the Doctor that lead to the final outcome of this story.
That being said I was very happy that the Doctor took responsibility for his own actions here.
Although I do wonder if the Time Lords were right in trying to prevent her power from manifesting. Yes it had very bad results but would the results have happened regardless and maybe even sooner?
But I am really loving all these new Time Lord villains!

And today I listened to the Gift...not bad it was enjoyable but I kind of wish they did more with the historical setting. Although I was happy the Clark Gable/Jeanette Macdonald movie was referenced. Did anyone else feel weird every time the 8th Doctor said Charley here?

Did anyone else feel weird every time the 8th Doctor said Charley here? Fun fact: The Eighth Doctor returned to San Francisco in a couple of BBC novels, Vampire Science and Unnatural History, the latter dealing with the consequences of the events of TV Movie. Vampire Science was to feature Grace, but the writers, Jonathan Blum and Kate Orman, only had the time to change the name when they found out they couldn't use Grace.

Did anyone else feel weird every time the 8th Doctor said Charley here? Yes!! It was very strange to me that it wasn't Ms. Pollard answering. I'm also loving the new Time Lord villains.

I had a go at drawing the Sonomancer. It didn't quite turn out how I expected. There was supposed to be a high-council collar, but I drew too much hair, and she was meant to be almost completly white, but it didn't look quite right. This is the part where she's vibrating the Doctor's atoms.

Finished the last story today. Parts of it were confusing to me but I did love so many great scenes between River, Helen, and Liv.
Liv taking on the 11 by herself for awhile was very cool and I loved that River got to meet both Helen and Liv. There were especially some nice moments between Helen & River. And once again I am very glad the Doctor didn't blame Helen for trying to help someone else despite the results. He's right this incarnation of the Doctor is similar to Helen in that way.
Please Please let Helen and Liv have a happy ending once they leave the Doctor (preferably together). I am so nervous though because companions rarely get happy endings (especially 8's companions...well okay the verdict is still out on Charley it seems).
But overall I would say Dorney's Scenes from Her Life was my definite favorite in this set. I think that was the best combination of character, plot, themes, and setting.

I didn't feel like the reveal of the relationship was a twist at all. I felt it was established from the beginning in a subtle but clear way. The way it was handled was actually one of my favorite things about the story. I really enjoyed Beachhead and think it is a really good slice of Who. It was a story that I found really quite surprising in the the way it developed its story and the way it dealt with its characters it. It was nice to listen to a Nick Briggs Who story that was simple & self-contained.

Enjoyed all the stories in this set but none stood out above the rest. I am a big Dorney fan so I was hoping for more from his story. It wasn't bad in any way, just suffered with comparisons to his other work in my opinion.
McGann was awesome all the way through as usual. Liv Chenka is becoming a firm favourite companion for me, I think Nicola Walker just gets better each time

Everything the revived series has attempted to do with the various companions, I feel like Big Finish has perfected with Liv Chenka. And I also agree, as each outing goes along Nicola Walker's work just gets stronger.

Just finished the series today. I enjoyed it a lot. I needed to turn volume up quite a lot higher than usual in the car for some of the stories at times. The Sonomancer was a bit confusing at the beginning as it wasn't completely clear as to whether the 11 and Caleera were disposing of people or whether Ruslan was (and if they were together then). Eventually it did become clear. It seemed Ruslan didn't have a clue as to what 11 was doing and maybe thought they were "natural" events? It would have been nice to get a script for this.
Still, overall a lot of fun and it was great to have River Song bouncing in. I guess this is after her final TV appearance as she has the improved sonic screwdriver?

I have a question for everyone that I have been wondering for a while:
In the final episode River makes a big deal out of how she can't meet Paul's doctor. Where did she get that information and what reason does she think there is for it? Do Tennant, Smith or Capaldi mention it? I can't imagine any incarnation telling her that she can't meet Eccleston or earlier, especially given Moffat's "x lies" rules.
It felt to me like River suddenly knew things that we the audience know, merely to keep the fact that we know that Tennant didn't recognise her intact, without there being any explanation for her learning it.

A solid box set with no weak links. Ranking the stories: 1.The Gift 2.Beachhead 3.The Sonomacer 4.Scenes From Her Life And honestly, I could have flipped 3 and 4 pretty easily. I just liked how The Sonomacer really moved the series along.
