Sad, sad news. The legendary DS star who played Nicolas Blair, Evan Hanley and Charles Dawson passed away last week. I've only just read it on the Dark Shadows Lives FB page. He was quite secluded and secretive when it comes to publicity he did a very rare podcast interview with the CHS not that long ago.
On the watch-through thread, I've said on a couple of occasions I think he's genuinely the best actor on the whole show and I stand by that. My love for the show was enhanced by his great gifts.

RIP, Humbert. We'll still be enjoying your terrific performances in DS for many years to come.

Vey sad news. I was thinking just yesterday how nice it would be to tempt him back and write for him, but sadly it will never be.
His performances in Dark Shadows are brilliant, though. Mischievous, and glittering, and with a great sense of style.
Rest in peace, Humbert Allen Astredo, you were so wickedly entertaining.

I'm very saddened to learn of this. Such a talented fellow to bring the magic that he did to Dark Shadows. I will always be very grateful for that. Thank you, Humbert, and fare thee well.

I've only seen Nicholas so far in my watchthru, none of his other characters.
I do always like a performance from an actor who joins a show and plays their character in a way that suggests they're the lead role and the show's just been killing time until their arrival. So far, Humbert has done that more so than anyone else (Lara Parker gives some challenge though).
RIP HAA.
