In one of life's little co-incidences, last night I watched 'The Curse Of Fenric' part 2. On what turned out to be it's 30th anniversary...

It Takes You Away, my favourite episode of season 11. Yes, that one was really good. I just love the random, weird and absurd. I wish we had gotten more of that. Well the writer of that episode, Ed Hime, is back for season 12. He's written the 3rd episode.

Just watched part of The Two Doctors, so far it’s camptastic fun! 🤪I have to admit when Shockeye was introduced the image was so ridiculous that I blurted out “What the @&$# is that?!” Love Two and Six😀 Definitely a so bad it’s good, or even amazing serial 🤣

It has amazing positive energy, you can feel how much fun everybody was having making this. Of course it does not make any sense, but that would be nitpicking.

Continuing on to part two of The Two Doctors, here are my thoughts: 1.I think this this may legitimately may become one of my favorite classic Who stories. After the initial shock of the ridiculousness of Shockeye, I am getting more and more engrossed in the character dynamics😀 2. Is it just me or does Dastari look exactly like Jeff Goldblum? 3. I am noticing tons of similarities between Shockeye and Ribbons from It takes You Away, to the point where I am wondering if Ribbons was deliberately modeled after Shockeye🤔 4. I never thought I would say this 😳 but I actually find Six kind of sexy in the scenes in Seville where he’s framed in the sunlight with just his waist coat on and his shirt a bit unbuttoned!😘😉 Not sure if I am alone on this last one or not🤔😄

Totally agree.
I also actually first thought the creature in It Takes You Away was an Androgum. That was a seriously missed opportunity.
I really think they should give the Androgums a makeover and maybe play them straight, kind of what BF did with a lot of the Sontaran stories where they are a genuine threat and not played for laughs.
Hah, I just have watched some convention videos on the weekend and in one of them Paul McGann goes on about how much of a looker Colin was back in the day. And I have to agree. Especially in the Two Doctors.
You are not alone.

You are not alone. It would be interesting if they had a storyline in modern who with Thirteen investigating a mysterious fast food chain where customers keep disappearing and the meat they use tastes a bit odd, that turns out to be run by Androgums. It could be a multi Doctor story with Thirteen and the fam teeming up with six and Peri 😀they would explain six and peri aged appearances the same as Five in time crash. I am partially motivated because we need a scene of 13 and 6 trying each other’s coats on😄but tell me that wouldn’t be an awesome episode 😀 Can you please send me a link to those convention videos?😊

I like to think of The Two Doctors as an Androgum story, featuring the Sontarans, rather than vice versa. Holmes puts so much energy into making it work. I'm reminded of something the Master says in Terror of the Autons: "Death is always more frightening when it strikes invisibly." It's got me thinking... That initial sense of absurdity is often a Doctor Who villain's greatest asset. For someone completely unaware of cosmic life, the idea that there's a literal maneater wandering around the hacienda of an old widow is about as believable as someone strangled to death by their own lounge chair. It sounds like something local kids dreamt up to give their local neighbourhood a bit more flavour. Like Oscar's belief that the Doctor is from Interpol. The truth, however, is much more interesting than the rationalisation.

Watching Part 3 of The Two Doctors, Thoughts so far : 1. 2 is hilarious as an Androgum 🤣 2. Oscar’s death scene was kind of ridiculous 🤔😄 3. Love 2 and 6’s banter😀 4. Still can’t get over sexy 6 is in this story, I always liked 6 but now, just wow😄😳😘

Arachnids in the UK as part of my latest season rewatch. I know it was criticised a bit on release as being a bit unoriginal, but it is quite good fun. Very creepy spiders for all you arachnophobes out there. Mr Big was on good form, plus we got the excellent “Are you two a couple?” moment.
The Jodie season rewatch is holding up very well so far, I have to say.

For such a silly, likeable character, his death seemed unnecessary. He'd done no harm to anyone, unless you're a butterfly of course.

Yeah, it's the only part that seems -- and this feels odd to say, given the story's reputation -- gratuitous. Stike being stabbed in the leg, Chessene lapping up Six's blood, this is the only moment that feels too much. There's a similar scene in Leviathan and I have to wonder if it got changed in the script editing process precisely as a reaction to poor Oscar. In hindsight, there's very little you'd need to change. Rather than him dying on the spot, Anita goes for the phone and, as the Doctor is leading himself from the cafe, you can hear an ambulance siren in the background. That's all you'd really need.

The Central NJ Doctor Who group viewing was: The Romans Man, I love that story. I would've loved to be there during initial rehearsals, just to see what the reaction was to the fight scene between the Doctor and the assassin. Comes out of nowhere, it's marvellous. Apparently, Hartnell ad-libbed "the Mountain Mauler of Montana" himself.

Can you please send me a link to those convention videos?😊 As to which convention videos they are... I watched far too many to point out single ones.
There are hundreds of them on Youtube. Just put Doctor Who convention in. And maybe add the name of the actor you want to see.
I think my favorite is the one with Sylvester and Paul- the two of them are soooo sweet together.
There is also one video where all the classic Doctors are together on stage and bicker with each other.
Check it out.

Inspired by the Eighties-ness of BF's The Ultimate Evil, I dug out the old Two Doctors DVD and ended up watching the featurette on Disc 2 called Behind the Sofa: Robert Holmes. I'd forgotten how fascinating it is. Most of Holmes' stories are featured (with the exception of the less-than-well-received Space Pirates), and there are many contributors (including Eric Saward having a pop at JNT as usual). It's great to be reminded how scary Doctor Who had been back then, and what a Saturday night treat it was to see Tom Baker battling Wirrn and Mummies etc. A lovely tribute about some great times.

Just rewatched Listen today. I think it’s one of the best episodes of Series 8! I remember every since the first time I watched this I found myself being careful not to put my feet to close to the edge of my bed it creeped me out so much!😱 The creature in this episode though slightly different reminds me a lot of the Midnight Entity in that they both evoke the terror and paranoia of what you cannot see or understand. Series 8 is underrated in my opinion! I love the drama between 12, Clara, and Danny Pink. I think there is a good parallel between 12 and Danny as two former soldiers who regret and want to move on. I also find 12 in this season quite compelling in his quiet story arch of his internal struggle with his identity. I think he plays the raw uncomfortableness of 12 adjusting to his much older body and the self consciousness of feeling less appealing to Clara very well. Even though he would hate it I kind of want to reach into the screen and give 12 a massive hug and tell him everything is going to be okay.

After watching part 1 this time last week, last night I (finally) got round to watching 'The Three Doctors' part 2, which I'll be continuing tonight and tomorrow.
