New Earth
Rose is acting all sassy and you think the new Doctor hasn't noticed but he has. There are some bubble-skinned zombies in this, lots of laughs, and the Doctor wants to find a little shop. Some excellent actors hidden under Cat nurse make-up, superb (and ultimately very moving) performances from Sean Gallagher and Zoe Wanamaker as Chip and Cassandra - there's a lot of fast moving fun here and a really touching, downbeat ending. This wasn't hugely popular amongst fans at the time but there's a huge amount to enjoy.

Dragonfire (Ian Briggs)
Definitely the worst that Series 24 had to offer. An awful to the point of being infamous nay legendary cliffhanger and it’s padded to high hell. (Especially those scenes with that little girl just wandering about) Still, at least it introduced one of the Classic series best companions and Glitz is always good fun.

Attack of the Cybermen (Eric Saward)
Has some good moments. But it tries too hard in being a sequel to every Cyberman story that came before it.

The Keys of Marinus.
I’ve always enjoyed this story, it’s not without its flaws, but an entertaining story none the less. Upon reflection though it almost feels like the prototype for the main range anthology releases.

The Claws of Axos
An odd one. There’s some interesting ideas, but a lot of odd choices. Delgado’s side of the story is easily the most interesting; as his Master is rarely one on the back foot and having to improvise. The scene where he basically takes over the Doctor’s role with UNIT justifies the entire story.

Blink
Harper has her partner over and she mentioned that she never watched Doctor Who. Well, we couldn't have that! She requested a 10th Doctor episode, and it happens that right now I don't have that many 10th Doctor episodes on the DVR, so Blink was it.

Vengeance on Varos (Phillip Martin)
A truly brilliant satire which introduces one of the Whoniverse’s greatest villains. The wonderfully slimy and sleazy Sil.

I've been working my way through the Season 24 Blu-ray set over the last week. Time and the RaniMy main comment for this story is pretty applicable for most of the season - if you want a bit of light-hearted silliness, this story is pretty great. Don't watch it amongst the likes of Genesis of the Daleks, Human Nature/ The Family of Blood, or Heaven Sent because this season simply isn't like the rest of Who. Watching these stories with that detachment from the rest of the series can actually be quite fun, and that's how I found the viewing experience for this. Paradise TowersThis one is probably quite underrated. The whole concept of the Towers and its inhabitants is great, and I think the caretakers in particular give extremely enjoyable performances. I've never understood why people have a problem with Richard Briers' performance; I think it's terrific! (Again, we're watching this season as a separate entity to the rest of Who, so no other comparisons to the rest of Who ) Delta and the BannermenI'll admit, I am slowly coming around to liking this. In a way, at least. My last re-watch around Christmas, I thought the music was definitely a selling point. This time, I'll throw the guest performances into the selection of good parts. I just can't forgive Delta's first words to Billy being "I'm going to trust you" and "You deserve the truth"... There's NO justification for that! I am going to watch the extended version on the second disc at some point though, if only to see whether the pair share at least one word before this exchange that was cut. If not, there really is no saving this love "story" DragonfireThis is a weird one in that there's not really anything wrong with it, I've just always found it to be utterly forgettable (well, except for *that* cliff-hanger and Kane's demise). On the whole, the story is actually quite a bit of fun, with another good selection of guest star performances. I even quite like the Dragon design, though maybe it would have been a little more effective if they'd kept it more in the shadows in certain scenes. Mel's decision to leave may come totally out of the blue, but I'm really quite fond of the farewell scene itself. And the special features this season... The Behind the Sofas this season were full-on, laugh-a-minute gold! I had an absolute ball watching all four. I hope they have Doctors sitting in on other Doctor's episodes more often in future, because this was just fantastic (Peter Davison's reaction to McCoy's wink in the titles... I'm still chuckling! )

Well, I hadn't planned on getting the new version of 'The Web Of Fear' buuuut as I could get it from work for 25p (extra discount at the moment + loyalty card points) I thought that I might as well...
At the moment I'm currently watching part 3, aaaaaaaand it doesn't (quite) look as bad as I thought it would... Don't get me wrong, it does still look very PS1 at times, but at others it's fine, it's fine. 'Not strictly to the standard as the others they've released recently, but it's... Fine.

Day of the Daleks (Special Edition version)
Revisited on bit of a whim. I think this is the best Pertwee era Dalek story, with the Controller really selling their occupation.
