Doesn't the Jack Harkness rumour come from Barrowman saying he was going to be in Cardiff for secret reasons (which turned out to be a few BF recordings, some still secret) and Peter Capaldi having shaved his hiatus beard (which he would have done before filming the Pearl Mackie teaser)?
I mean it's still possible but there's nothing directly pointing to it.

Barrowman has tweeted a denial. He hasn't filmed and hasn't been asked.

But it's hardly like he's a hard character for Moffat to put in an episode anyway. You don't need a narrative reason for it. Just have the Doctor coincidentally bump into him whilst he's investigating the same alien activity School Reunion style or say he was looking for the Doctor.

Hello again. As part of my looking for sci-fi to keep me amused until Who's return at Christmas I have discovered a series on Netflix. As we only have two weeks left on it. Is it worth continuing with Battlestar Galactica reboot? The miniseries was interesting. No orange robotic doggy type thing in sight! Not much humour either, apocalyptic with great performances from Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell as Adama and Laura Roslin respectively. Are there any standout episodes? Is the series any good? I'm generally not a fan of military sci-fi but the miniseries did have some great characterisation and dark moments of the soul. Any thoughts folks... I can't believe I blipped over this post the first time. Battlestar Galactica is fantastic. I didn't watch it when it first came out cause I also had that "military sci-fi" characterization in my head, but I ended up watching it at the urging of my nephew and loved it. Whovitt is correct that it's more political than military. It deals with some very interesting and complex issues, and it's not always easy to watch. It's easiest to understand if you go straight through the series in order, that's what I did. I do disagree that you need to watch twice to really understand it. I understood it alright, though I'm sure I would pick up on some things I didn't pay as much attention to on a re-watch, as one always does.

Sorry, might have written that wrong - I don't think it's that difficult to understand what happens by watching it once, but like you say, there are lots of little things I probably missed on first viewing that would enhance a second viewing

Don't know if its wishful thinking, but I think that Paul McGann has already filmed the Christmas Special. True, series 10 filming started yesterday, but nowhere have the words "Christmas Special" been mentioned. Another clue has been the delay in filming. The BBC originally said filming would start in May, then changed to June. Perhaps filming did start in May. Of course, series 10 could include Christmas, but I hope not.

No actor who plays the current Doctor Who is going to countenance someone else getting to play the part instead of them in the big highlight of Christmas Day episode. "Aye that'll be right." would be the mildest of replies.

Have the BBC paid Capaldi for 8 months to do nothing?

For a show that you don't seem to enjoy at all and clearly hasn't been able to please you in the past 12 years, you sure do keep a close eye on things.
