I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Alien Entertainment, who I've ordered some of the out of print main range discs from lately, had a copy of Cyberman: 1.1 Scorpius listed on their website as in stock (and not at an inflated price). Given that this disc is listed on as out of print and is going for a moderate to hefty price on the secondary market, I took a shot and ordered it. They didn't have it after all, but they did send me this response:
"We were told this past weekend at Chicago TARDIS by Big Finish that they are not going to be producing any more copies of Cybermen #1 as a single issue cd. They are planning to re-release the 4 Cybermen cds as a boxed set, probably next year."
I am not aware of any official announcement about this, nor have I heard any rumors. Can anyone confirm this?

I really hope so, I'm a cd only customer, so I've been waiting for this to happen

If this is true, then i'm buying it. It'll probablly be a limited edition of like 5,000 or something

This somewhat surprises me that it would be financially worth Big Finish's effort to re-press a 10 year old product (Series 1) from which its consisting 4 stories probably don't sell like hotcakes anymore. Moreover, BF still has Cyberman 1.2-1.4 CDs in stock to sell. Considering that the Cyberman 2 box set is completely CD out of print and a newer product, I would think its re-pressing would be the more profitable option between the 2 series.
Whatever this possible Cyberman box set (Series 1 + 2?) CD re-pressing story layout configuration will be its price point will then need to be attractive. Being packaged within an economic Poly case with its CDs stacked directly on top of one another on the hub spindle could be an outcome possibility.

Packaging the Cybermen spin-off series in to a box set makes sense to me; it was one story after all. So it's probably cheaper for BF to put them in to one package, doing away with eight individual CD jewel cases. Maybe we'll also get to see a Dalek Empire collected box set one day?

And, will Big Finish include new bonus material only available with its repackaging of these series?
I did resist re-buying the 3 Nest Cottage series within The Nest Cottage Chronicles box set, which includes an alluring exclusive bonus disc.

Of course we need to repress the Cybermen! They'd convert us if we didn't.

Isn't 2016 their 50th Anniversary?!
It would be nice if Big Finish commemorated that.

Scorpius isn't as rare as I thought. I got a new, sealed copy from eBay a couple of months ago for around a tenner. Have seen a few more copies for sale on there since then too.
The Robin Hood ones though, I'm still needing the first and last story on cd but have yet to find either anywhere at any price.

Alien Entertainment is the US distributor of Big Finish product, so they would have some of the best information out there. If this is indeed true, then perhaps this is precursor to Big Finish repressing the first 50 Main Range titles and releasing omnibus style releases.

Big Finish Omnibus box sets? Sounds good to me. Although I probably wouldn't need to buy any, but they would be a good way for new BF converts to get the old material collected togerher. If it's not on the BF agenda already it's definitely something they should try. I think they'd sell well. Maybe us older fans would even double dip if suitable 'extras' were enticing enough?!

I would think that two or three box sets of the Eighth Doctors earlier adventures would make a lot of sense. And yes depending on the extras I could very well be tempted to double dip

I think there was a box set with the first four Eighth and Charley stories, along with behind the scenes interviews. It was a while ago and isn't available for purchase through Big Finish anymore. One copy popped up on a New Zealand auction site recently, I was outbid though.

Out of everything I've ever been outbid in, that's the thing I wanted the most.

I'm sure it will turn up again - make sure you look for international copies. I think it was initially intended as a means to enter the American market more easily.

"Slightly different?" As in merely "some material cut" or as in "some alternate takes/unused scenes"?

Little trims. And a fixed sound effect in Sword Of Orion (a door opens on the original after the character enters the room and starts talking).

I don't think that really is Big Finish's style - Big Finish are very much about about servicing their long-term customers, after all.
