Okay...I was thinking more in terms of this being the Doctor's timeline. If we're talking strict chronology from his POV, it just seemed a little odd that he should meet Anya Kingdom (as herself) and then not know who "Ann Kelso" is several stories later? Once again: entirely talking out of my ass and may well be totally wrong and out to lunch, as I haven't heard The Dalek Protocol yet. {Spoiler} The Doctor and Anya never meet in the story. The Doctor does meet Mark.
Basically the Doctor talked about Leela a lot when he was travelling with “Ann”. So when Anya hears the Doctor call out for Leela, she realises that it’s too early in his timeline for them to interact and then intentionally avoids him for the rest of the story. Their only interaction is when Anya rescues him in disguise, and the Doctor later finds out it was her in Dalek Universe.
Leela and Anya do meet though and Anya tells Leela who she is, but gets Leela to promise not to tell the Doctor. I'm usually extremely spoilerphobic but I just had to know lol. Thank you!

hey, do you know when "Philip Hinchcliffe Presents Volume 04: The God of Phantoms" takes place in the 4th Doctor's timeline; i mean i know that it takes place during the Docotr's travels with Leela, but before The Invisible Enemy before they meet K9, but do you know when exactly this story takes place?

Really, there shouldn’t be many stories if anything before The Revisionists. Leela has only been in the TARDIS for days and pretty much says that she hasn’t been outside since leaving her own planet, just “travelling between boxes”.
The reference to the Brigadier in The Helm of Awe is annoying. But I’m still not really convinced these PHP sets are intended to go so early in Leela’s run.
Damn AFA once again for making life awkward.

Because someone over on the wiki thinks it’s a reference to her jumper from Horror of Fang Rock, which she’s wearing on the cover of The God of Phantoms.

I'm not entirely sure where the line was but it's pretty early on in Part One, I think just after they step outside of the TARDIS. He unequivocally mentions Shetland though, and given The Helm of Awe is set there it would seem pretty hard to argue with placing God of Phantoms just after it. EDIT: The exact line is "What a good thing you're still wearing your Shetland gear". It's at 6:18 of the second track of Part One.

Yeah that does make sense, and in Helm of Awe Leela does explicitly wear a pullover and a coat. The annoying part is that apparently the type of jumper Leela wears in Fang Rock is called a Shetland jumper, but then the Helm of Awe is a more likely reference. And I suppose Leela would be more comfortable wearing clothing other than her skins after Fang Rock.

Damn AFA once again for making life awkward. I think people have just have to go for personal preference with the order. You either have to ignore the Leela's knowledge of the Brigadier or you ignore the line about Leela not getting any fresh air recently. Personally I'd rather place PHP later on in the timeline and ignore the Brigadier reference, lots of characters in big finish keep having memory issues anyway.

Personally I'd rather place PHP later on in the timeline and ignore the Brigadier reference, lots of characters in big finish keep having memory issues anyway. Well the thing is, she also talks about the Doctor telling her not to bring the Tesh gun on their last trip as well as the bit about it being days since Face of Evil and her having not been outside since then, and also she mentions the sandminer and refers to the conversation she had with the Doctor at the start of Robots, so it’s really difficult not to have Revisionists follow straight on. And then Leela’s knowledge of the Brigadier’s doesn’t even line up, with her learning his full name in Helm of Awe and referring to him as “the man with many names” or something to that effect, but in Revisionists she’s never heard his full name and is just familiar with the Doctor talking about someone called the Brigadier.

The Return of Robin Hood takes place between Revenge of the Cybermen and Terror of the Zygons, with the Doctor, Sarah and Harry still on their way to Scotland. They’ve also been travelling together for a few months by now so it’s probably after everything in that gap except Wolfsbane and Toil and Trouble.

The Ann Kelso run occupies pretty much all that space.

Paul Magrs is also pretty fluid on the placement considering the fact that these days he’s saying that it’s actually the Curator. And he wrote a continuation with all the names changed called Baker’s End, where Tom Baker dies and is reborn as Colin Baker at one point.
Tbh, Nest Cottage probably isn’t even supposed to take place in a single gap. There’s so many times the Doctor disappears between series and then when he returns it’s been years since his last visit. The first set seems like he was trying to pin down a “canon” placement but then after that he did his own thing.
