I just spent about $50.00 on Dark Shadows. I've been waiting for this sale to really dig in (though I expected it to happen closer to June) I got all of the 1973 arc (except Beneth the Veil which hasn't been reduced so I will wait till that is fixed) All of the Cassandra & Tony audios Plus a few that sounded good to me: Speak no Evil, The Crismon Pearl, the Blind Painter, and the Night Whispers. I had just bought more Quentin Collins audios at full price. I should have waited but then I guess I still made out like a bandit during this sale. Edit: The Price on Beneth the Veil has been fixed so just purchased that as well.

Bought 33-50 so now I have all the Dark Shadows releases.
Not listened to a single one yet though. They better be good!

33 was one of the first I heard and it's a personal favourite - and that whole block from 33 onwards is very strong generally.
If you do want advise on a listening order there's quite a few suggestions dotted around the forum or you can ask away here!

Release order seems fine to me for most of my BF listening. It was (presumably) a good enough order for anyone who has followed the range since day one.

I just filled in all my Dark Shadow holes except for Angelique's Descent since I'm a download customer. Seeing Kim talk about the price fix for Beneath The Veil, The Final Judgement has also not been reduced but I bought it anyway. I wonder if it will be.

At this price, don't ask for recommendations. Beg, steal and borrow and FILL YOUR BOOTS.
Timelord - get on it!

Egads, the entire audiobook set? Oh, I have to think on this one. Such perfect timing; I just got my tax return in this morning!
I bought a few last year and have enjoyed most of them. I loved the Tony & Cassandra set (which could easily have been its own range!), and was really stunned by The House by the Sea and Beyond the Grave (played that one at my Halloween party last year... no seriously! Creeped everyone out big time!).
I've got a few titles queued to pick up, but once I figure out my budget I may try to nab a few more...
Edit: I'm a sucker. I picked up what I didn't have from 33-50, due to multiple recommendations (last year's sale was on 1-32, and I liked those, but I've really been wowed by what I've heard in the stories that come after those), along with Dress Me in Dark Dreams, The Crimson Pearl, A Collinwood Christmas, and The Haunted Refrain (have to follow up the retroactive cliffhanger from The Darkest Shadow, after all!)

I'm sure if you do get charged full price, then Big Finish would be happy to correct that for you if you drop them an email. Everything looks right on the website now - to me, at least.

Release order seems fine to me for most of my BF listening. It was (presumably) a good enough order for anyone who has followed the range since day one. But only for those that did follow the range through. Some people have said they found later ones more newbie-friendly, and they could then go back and enjoy the earlier ones more than on first attempt. Others talk of starting with the very first release with no prior knowledge and finding it no problem to pick it all up as they went along.
Different approaches work for different people. If release order works for you then fine, but anyone who would like some help easing in should feel free to ask for assistance.

Yikes! This is going to cost me!!
Looking at the Collinwood, Windcliff, and Trask bundles at the moment.
I have a few of the audiobooks from sales here and there, but have not yet listened to them because I'm a release order kind of guy. (Made an exception, sort of, for Bloodlust, because I didn't want to get spoiled while I was making my way slowly through the Big Finish canon.)

This seems to have slipped under the radar "Big Finish is proud to have continued the Dark Shadows saga in more than 60 audio plays; with many more in the works!" We know of two, right now. Two isn't many. I think we can safely say the future is bright. Well....it's Dark, I suppose. Here's to MANY more.

Two isn't many. I think we can safely say the future is bright. Well....it's Dark, I suppose. Here's to MANY more. Well they Announced last year that the licence had been extended for 5 years
from a BF News Piece:
'Having produced the audio adventures of Dark Shadows for the past decade, I am delighted that Big Finish Productions will continue to chronicle the dark and mysterious tales of the inhabitants of Collinsport for at least another five years,' says Big Finish Executive Producer Jason Haigh-Ellery.
Jim Pierson, who represents the estate of Dark Shadows creator Dan Curtis says: 'It’s been a great thrill for the original Dark Shadows actors to return to the roles they made famous with these new audio episodes. I know that fans everywhere will be looking forward to more great stories of supernatural suspense with these wonderful characters and ominous adventures.'
So there's time.

Undoubtedly an excellent value sale! However, could it be construed by some of the regular price purchasers that Big Finish was a little too aggressive on substantially discounting newer Dark Shadows releases (45-50) that have not even been out for a year? And Red All Over (50) was barely released 6 months ago.

Of the audiobooks, I've got The Blind Painter, The Death Mask, The Last Stop, House by the Sea, and Beyond the grave. The first one I abhorred, the second was unremarkable but inoffensive, and I loved the last three. I've also listened to The House of Despair, which I rather liked. Based on that admittedly limited data, which audiobooks would folks here recommend? I know that The Flip Side has been quite praised, as have the Tony and Cassandra ones. And the Darkest Shadow (itself a sequel to the Eternal Actress) has Dorian Grey, so I suppose I should check that one out.
Cheers!

Uh oh I hope I like the Blind Painter more than you did. I do seem to be in the minority, in regards to that story, so I wouldn't worry too much.
