I assume we won't do Panic, since we just did. But since it comes at the end anyway, those who want to can do so and add their comments to the existing Panic thread.

I'm in for the full casts, series 1 & 2 after Quentin. I'll do anything after that as well. If you need suggestions based on ones we have not covered, I can help with that because I've been crossing off the ones we've done since starting our group listen thru's. Oh that's handy, Tracy. Yes, I think even though some listenthrus were done on the old BF forum, we should still try to do 'new' story-runs that haven't been done as listenthrus before. There's not that many of us doing it anyway, so it seems a shame to repeat things and maybe lose people. Dark Shadows Audios.pdf (24.64 KB) Here's the listing of all the audios -- all the ones in blue have been part of the group listenthrus -- the list includes "Return to Collinwood" even though it's not Big Finish. I always include it because at least up until this point in time, it's still considered main timeline canon, for both the TV series and for the Big Finish audios. Obviously, we can disregard RtC, as well as the documentary "The Legend Reborn, the music releases, and the Sampler disk--which I saved due to some cool commentary with KLS and Alec Newman.

I was a little worried on the delay as well, but I guess it's not as clear where to go after Bloodlust and the most recent six. Now we're no longer just following along with what audios followed chronologically. While the Quentin dramas aren't my favorite (still very good, but we are spoiled with so many great options), I am excited to delve back into them and see how they are with our commentaries.

I'll be honest I'm a bit baffled by the urge to do release order rather than chronological order but each to their own.
Sadly I won't be joining you on this listenthru. I have more pressing Dark Shadows matters to attend to...

I have more pressing Dark Shadows matters to attend to... For me, it's just a matter of personal preference. For ANY series, I always prefer release order over chronological. I don't necessarily love linear, chronological storytelling--especially when often, a chronological experience may reveal story points or elements before the author intended the reader/listener to know about them. Oooh..."more pressing Dark Shadows matters to attend to..." I love that!!!!

Author intention? I think you're giving us far too much credit there, Trace! On reflection I think actually release order is largely fine for the Quentin ones. London's Burning and the Creeping Fog could be either way round, frankly. That said, I would personally strongly argue for the Darkest Shadow to be before The Haunted Refrain given the ending.

I think it works both ways. It obviously flows one way, but the other way lets you get a 'oh I see' moment.

So that's how that happened!!" moment) is exactly what I was talking about when I said "author's intention". In Narnia, if you read book 6 The Magician's Nephew first (chronologically, it is first) you'll find out how the London lamppost ended up in the clearing in the woods in Narnia....and by reading book 1 The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe second, when you get to the part with the lamppost in the clearing, the magic and wonder of it has already been spoiled.

God, I have no recollection of that at all. And I reread them a few years back. Clearly some parts of my brain have been cleared out for storing other things.

I think Dark Shadows is probably crowding out some of the more useful basic functions I used to have. I'm sure I used to be able to boil eggs. Or go to the pub without evangelising the show. Or write emails that didn't involve detailed explanations of finer points of DS lore. My life isn't like other people's. In fact it's positively deranged.
