1st Doc Boxset in particular Farewell Great Macedon is excellent (and I say that as non 1st Doc fan)
Thin Ice-Earth Aid (mixed reviews on those in general but I'm a 7th Doc Ace fan)
The Rosemariners ( a near full-cast sounding 2nd Doctor)
Series 1 and the 6th Doc ones in Season3 were meant for Season 23 in the 80s there 2 50 minutes EPs per story (more hits then misses IMO)

Cheers Mark, any thoughts on: Lord of The Red Planet The Masters Of Luxor The First Sontaran First Sontarans Excellent
Lords of the Red Plant very good
I really dislike Luxor

Any thoughts on The Queen Of Time? I enjoyed it, in fact I enjoyed it more then lords of the Red Planet, which is a very story itself BTW.

I'll post what I went with on the 'today's purchases' thread... Having done so...as much as I love Big Finish's generosity with sales (including pre-order special pricing and bundles as well, I don't think I've ever paid full price for a story, considering some of these stories are 3 hours long this is a massive bargain) in some ways it's a tad annoying when they are this generous/tempting, especially with another sale promised on Wednesday I've yet to see any of Colin's TV stories (beyond a few bits and pieces of The 2 Doctors) so it will be interesting to experience audio stories closer to the Sixie many of you guys grew up with... Surprised there are so few 3rd/4th Doctor lost stories...was it a case of rights issues/fewer reasonably complete storylines, or the sad passing of so many companion actors/actress's from the 70's in recent years? Maybe they could adapt some of the 'lost pitches' for the TV Movie...

I know that in the Pertwee era, Letts and Dicks basically ran a 'closed system', where they would go to the same guys season after season. That's why you see a lot of Hulke, Sloman, Baker/Martin, etc. It kind of shows, IMO - the Pertwee era is nothing if not consistent, especially Seasons 8-11. Later producers may have done similarly, so there was little opportunity for an enterprising writer to get a Doctor Who story even to the stage where it might be 'lost'. For better or worse, JNT was much more willing to experiment so you have more stories that got further along in the pipeline.

That makes sense, I haven't seen much of 80's Who but with the Pertwee and early T.Baker era's you could generally know what to expect, I suppose a increasing amount of experimental storylines would also lead to more being abandoned...

Where was this sale when I bought the range?? Sigh, it is a really good price for those who've been looking to get the range. There are a few weak and the odd (in my opinion) horrible offerings, but on the whole the stories are very entertaining and it is a shame they never made it to tv.

Cheers Mark, any thoughts on: Lord of The Red Planet The Masters Of Luxor The First Sontaran Lords of the Red Planet: Get it! It's a well-paced and surprisingly fast moving six-parter and a very strong story all round. It's got a larger cast than the usual First or Second Doctor Lost Stories so there's some more variety in the voices. Masters of Luxor: If you don't like the slower paced early First Doctor stuff, this may not be your cup of tea. The First Sontarans: If you're a fan of Sontarans this story does them justice. No idiocy, Dad's Army silliness or Strax comedy but competent, deadly Mr Potato Heads with guns. Each episode builds up the scope and increases the stakes. There's the first episode free as a podcast from around August 2012 if you want to sample it.

And they continue their david bailie agenda! The Soundcloud trailers embedded in the article are good on a browser but absolute hell on a smart phone. I haven't been able to get to the bottom of a page with more than three or four of these trailers in the page on my phone.

I really hope that we will see another random Lost Story be produced by Big Finish in our futures! I have a feeling that special occasion one-offs would sell very well (it's all about keeping us wanting more in small doses).

I am planning on getting the First and Fourth Doctor Box Sets as well as The Rosemariners and Lords of the Red Planet. What does everyone think about them?

I loved the First and Fourth Doctor Box Set and Lords of the Red Planet. Haven't heard the Rosemariners yet, was thinking of getting that one this time around, along with Masters of Luxor, Guardians of Prophecy, and Mission to Magnus. So I'd appreciate people's thoughts on those releases, as well. I was going to get Hexagora anyway, cause it's the Listeners selection this month, so really cheap.

I'll probably get it today, anyway, but thanks for the thought, masterdoctor. It's not my favorite but it definitely invokes the 2nd Doctor era & it has David Warner. Can never have enough of him. If I was to compare it. It reminds me of my feelings for Seeds of Death. Not my favorite but it has scenes I really enjoy. And it's 2nd Doctor. I always enjoy 2nd Doctor to some extent.
