So, I don't know what everyone else's opinions are -- but my only speculation on Part 4 of Diary of River Song is to place it after Doom Coalition at some point... It's very clearly stated that the Time War is already going on, but that's not the case (at least, not confirmed) in Doom Coalition so far.
For my own sanity, I'm just parking this one after all of DC, along with his Classic Doctors New Monsters episode, and the upcoming Eight-Time War set. At least until we get something a bit more concrete.

Yeah, Doom Coalition is a continuation of the Dark Eyes era, while the River Song box set is in the Time War era, as evidenced by the Doctor wearing his "Night of the Doctor" outfit.

Any reason in particular why Destrii is after the books? I always considered it post Charley, pre-book resumption.

Any reason in particular why Destrii is after the books? I always considered it post Charley, pre-book resumption. Personally I put the EDA novels first, with The Dying Days taking place during a gap in the second novel. It's possible that the DWM comics also take place in this gap, or after the The Gallifrey Chronicles.

Hello everyone! I've now updated the Eighth Doctor's timeline thread by having it as a page view instead of a PDF view for users to see. Enjoy! Tim.

I just realised something clever about the Short Trip Foreshadowing (spoilers, obviously): {Spoiler} The end of the story reveals that the character who has been questioning the Eighth Doctor and Charley is Mike Yates, and he is introduced to UNIT shortly after this story. Yet it conflicts with Destiny of the Doctor Vengeance of the Stones, released well over a year before Foreshadowing.
The clever bit comes in when you consider what's happening with the Eighth Doctor and Charley. It's during that second season of stories with the paradox arc. The stories of that season all include some aspect of history being slightly different from what really happened (the anti-time messing with history), and Charley's presence here presents an alternate version of how Mike Yates came to join UNIT!

Any reason in particular why Destrii is after the books? I always considered it post Charley, pre-book resumption. I think the reasoning is that the comic story "The Flood" was originally intended to feature the Eighth Doctor's regeneration in to Chris Eccleston's Ninth Doctor, so the writers may have considered the bulk of stories written since the announcement of the New TV Series to officially mark the end of the Paul McGann era before Doctor Who returned to television with Eccleston. Now the regeneration never happened of course - the BBC vetoed the decision and DWM abandoned the idea fairly late in development - but the fact that RTD brought forward the idea to DWM rather than BBC Books suggests that the comics were meant to have precedence over the books in wrapping up the McGann stories, i.e. the books would have to take place sometime before "The Flood" in Eight's timeline if the regeneration had been depicted. So setting the post-Izzy stories after Gallifrey Chronicles might be an acknowledgement of RTD and the comic writers' intentions.

Hey billy2. Hate to bother you again but one thing I forgot when sorting my timeline was the placement of the flashback from Nevermore, specifically the one recounting the Doctor's meeting with Poe in 1849 during his second exile on Earth. I figure it should be placed before The Burning as that story was set in 1890 and all further stories in the "Eight on Earth" arc are set during subsequent years. 10. The Eighth Doctor on Earth The flashback of the Eighth Doctor's encounter with Edgar Allan Poe in 'Nevermore' occurs here.86. The Burning (Book)
'Evergreen' (ST)
87. Casualties of War (Book)

Perhaps you should add the rest of the Doctor's adventures with Josie Day, seeing as they're all out now? They are Music of the Spherions, The Silvering, Briarwood and A Matter of Life and Death, in order of release. And thanks for all the great work with the timelines

Haven't listened to Nevermore in ages, so I'm pleasantly surprised that BF referenced the exile on earth from the books, however... I don't think that actually fit with the books continuity?, {Spoiler} the Doctor waits for Fitz on earth for 113 years between 1888 and 2001, but as far as I can remember the tardis is essentially dead for all those years, with the Doctor having no ability to time travel or leave Earth, so how could he encounter Poe in 1849?

Thanks elgranto. I really appreciate you telling me this. Feel free to mention any additions to my 'Doctor Who' timelines. They're always welcome. Tim. Hey billy2, this talk about flashbacks reminded me of the 'Discontinuity guide' website: www.whoniverse.net/discontinuity They've got entries on most of the Doctor Who novels (and some of the New Who episodes), noting information or links to/about 'Off screen' or 'unrecorded adventures' (both past and future) and general continuity notes, sometimes with specific dates, for example The entry on The Year of Intelligent Tigers and The Tommorow Windows: Most of the Tardis wiki pages for the various stories do something similiar (not just for the 8th Doctor) though you'd have to check them to see what the references were. On a similar note, I believe some of the later EDA novels have flashbacks, or references to his exile on earth, naming a few of his companions during this time. Not sure if you'd want to bother adding any of these, as some of the information listed is quite vague and/or might not be completely true from an in-universe perspective, and they aren't actually proper stories as such, merely flashbacks, or off-screen (or off-page) adventures.

Apparently there's a reference in The Deadstone Memorial of Eight meeting Poe during his exile. It's possible that the author, Trevor Baxendale, was unaware of the arc's chronology due to him being uninvolved with that particular run of stories.

So there's an anomaly in the books rather than in Nevermore, and Nevermore has unfortunately picked on a historical error as the thing from te books to reference. Now someone needs to write a story about Poe getting displaced forwards in time by fifty years and meeting an amnesiac time traveller.

I like to think that the Eighth Doctor mainly experienced, with a little bit of interweaving here and there, the BBC novels, the Doctor Who Magazine comics, the audio dramas, and then the Titan comics. Of course, all of that is sandwiched in-between the TV Movie and The Night of the Doctor:
The final novel in the BBC novel series, The Gallifrey Chronicles, presents the Master as still being trapped in the Eye of Harmony, so it could be presumed that the Eighth Doctor traveled with Sam, Fitz, Compassion, Anji, and Trix before traveling with Izzy.
By the time he's traveling with Izzy in The Fallen, the Master is shown to have escaped from the Eye of Harmony. In The Glorious Dead, Kroton places the Master somewhere that he couldn't escape. It could be presumed that that "somewhere" is the Eye of Harmony, since the short story called Forgotten, from Short Trips: The Centenarian, also presents the Master escaping from the Eye of Harmony, but seemingly isn't followed up by a story in which he's placed back in imprisonment, unlike The Fallen. It's also ensured that the Master can't influence the Doctor's TARDIS, such as being able to appear to the Doctor within a mirror in the TARDIS like in The Deadstone Memorial, a BBC novel.
In The Next Life, a story with Charley and C'rizz, the Doctor mentions having a meal on an island in the Pacific Ocean in 1939, which seemingly refers to the comic called Tooth and Claw, a story in which he's seen traveling with Izzy. Yes, it's possible for any of the Doctor's incarnations to have had a meal on an island in the Pacific Ocean in 1939, but considering how both The Next Life and Tooth and Claw had Alan Barnes as a writer, I'm more inclined to believe the Eighth Doctor in The Next Life referred to Tooth and Claw.
While traveling with Lucie in The Zygon Who Fell to Earth, the Doctor mentions having a previous encounter with the Zygons in 1894 London, an event which is presented in The Bodysnatchers, a BBC novel.
Then, after Sisters of the Flame and The Vengeance of Morbius, The Doctor mistakenly refers to Lucie as "Izzy" in Orbis.
A summary for The Pictures of Josephine Day mentions the Eighth Doctor having traveled with Molly O'Sullivan, a companion from Dark Eyes. Also, it's likely that The Pictures of Josephine Day takes place after Doom Coalition, the audio anthology after Dark Eyes, since the Doctor is seen wearing clothes which appear more similar to his clothes seen in The Night of the Doctor than the clothes he wore in Doom Coalition.
