Don't know if there's much I can add, like others this was the release where I thought "BF mean business". Evelyn's a mature, confident, forthright but not condescending, Colin is gives such a measured and thoughtful performance I'm thinking "This is how the Doctor should be"., in short a perfect Doctor/Companion combo. Now for the rest of the characters They're all absolute in their convictions and to a certain extent sympathetic so its a classic morality tale. 10/10 Regards mark687 The guest cast come across as fully fleshed out characters, where you recognise why they do what they do even if you don't like what they're doing. Jacqueline Rayner has a skill in doing this, making the characters more than forgettable or ciphers there to fulfill what the plot needs them to. Characters like William Leaf, who is passionate and youthful, but has his limits, or Sarah, who is serving the woman who has made her marriage legally null and void even though she still loves the man she married. You can see seeds of the reveal around Sarah in her early interactions with the Doctor, subtle yet effective.

Me too! Those early Doctor Who audio adventures - especially this story - are among my favourite Big Finish releases ever. They certainly are impressive. Once Big Finish found their feet, the first few years were a very high standard. Yep there was a few duds (Land of the Dead, Bang-Bang-a-Boom, The Rapture and Sword of Orion) but the first 50 are generally very enjoyable and high quality. The intervening years have been a bit hit and miss, but I've felt that the quality of the Main Range has improved massively since 2015 and I hope this continues with the new approach and moving away from trilogies of Doctors. Yeah. The last few years has been really really good.

Why does everyone hate on Bang-Bang-A-Boom? There are FAR worse stories in the first 50 than Bang-Bang-A-Boom.

Why does everyone hate on Bang-Bang-A-Boom? There are FAR worse stories in the first 50 than Bang-Bang-A-Boom. I absolutely love it!!! In theory, a parody of Eurovision should really be a novel/humorous release. I just found the comedy really, really flat and not hitting the targets. For example, whilst the idea of a commentator with an Irish accent called 'Logan' has the potential to be quite funny - the character is not developed and beyond making a few cutting remarks at the start is killed off. The political angle could work, but again is lost in a murder-mystery-eque type plot. The plot is very hit and miss, with the characters not really redeemable either. I really, really wanted to like the story as I enjoy satire. I was hoping it would be akin to The One Doctor (the 2001 Christmas Release) but Bang-Bang-A-Boom just falls flat. McCoy doesn't really pull of the pantomime humour (like Baker could) and the guest cast isn't sparkly enough (Biggins is used to panto so can really do wonders with his material). I've not listened to all the first 50, but this is the only one I struggled to get through to the end (and fell asleep listening to).
