Well I'm only on the second episode and thoroughly enjoying this. I bought the TV series so I could then get the audio and the show was well ahead of its time. Loved it. With the James Hazeldine passed away (I remember him from Chocky!) and that dealt with in the audios by the corresponding death of his character, Tom Crane, I wonder will Michael Crane show up? I don't know the fate of his actor though so...great creepy stories though!

Wheras I remember Hazeldine from London's Burning. It's like Grange Hill all over again, Charles Yeah, this was a strong, strong release. I was quite suprised so many people tried it with no knowledge at all of the show. I got the DVDs dirt cheap a fw years back.

The first episode of the BF series seemed a little odd/off to me, but so did the first episode of the TV series. I put it down to having to introduce the characters, the ongoing situation, backstories, and try to have a current adventure on top of all that.
I was also surprised that the audio series leant more towards the supernatural and religious direction than the original series, but suppose that they may be saving the conspiracy element for future seasons.
The tone overall felt very much like the original series. The final story of the four was brilliant, and the entire season built upwards with each new story.
Omega Factor and Torchwood are the only non-Who ranges where I've purchased the next season in advance.

I hope they explore some of the ESP type abilities such as telekinesis or clairvoyance as they did in the original show in certain episodes.

I think this thread needs a re-naming. What's it about?

Do you need to see the show before watching? I'd recommend watching the TV series before listening. You could probably listen to the first two of the stories released so far and understand them somewhat. But the third story hinges heavily on a thread from the TV series. The good news is that there were only ten episodes in the TV series, and they're available on DVD. (although the series is out of press in the US) You can probably find them on YouTube.

The DVDs are so hard to find I bought and listened to the Audiobook instead (which does include the character who returns in episode 3 - surprisingly, not the first time Big Finish brought back a cast-member of a TV series who did not speak on TV playing the same character on audio)

Do you need to see the show before watching? I'd say no. You can follow what's happening without any problem at all. Saying that though, I did buy and watch the TV series first, it's only 20 quid on Amazon and 10 episodes long so didn't feel like a big commitment as a bit of preparation.

And I'm looking forward to the second season/series/box set! What are we calling it by the way? Which of those three is it? Box set?

I was quite taken with the first two audio stories, and I took the recommendation here that it might be better to see the TV series before listening to part 3 of the audio set, so I purchased the DVDs. Watched the first six episodes yesterday and enjoyed them quite a bit in spite of not being terribly focused at the time - I'm sure I'd have enjoyed them even more had I been. I like the way the intrigue builds with the OS, so far things somehow seem to always get more eventful even though there are some dramatic happenings early on and I already adore the serialized format of the show.
Debating now whether to finish the TV series or save some for later, I'm really going to wish there had been more of this series - but that's of course why there's Big Finish. :-)

Any news on when series II is coming out? I seem to remember it was December at one point (or am I imagining that?) and now it is TBA. One of my favourite ranges.

A shame if it has been put back as series one was very good. Unfortunately I think this is another range that is in danger of getting obscured by the newer ones. Cheers Tony

I noticed a few weeks back that it had been removed from the December release schedule and pushed to sometime next year. Hopefully this doesn't become a project that is constantly being pushed back.
