I noticed a few weeks back that it had been removed from the December release schedule and pushed to sometime next year. Hopefully this doesn't become a project that is constantly being pushed back. as Lou J was on the podcast last week & she went out to speak to DORNEY I assume it's in studio ATM

I can't see it getting pushed back more. We've known for a while when it's recording.

Question Dorney, will you be writing for the range and do you think it would be odd writing for yourself?

Well, I've written for myself before - sortt of - and it's interesting. No current plans to write one. It's quite a nice novelty to be outside the scripting process on something, it's so rare for me at Big Finish, I rather like keeping that distinction.

The news story today about Series Two reminds me I've not listened to Series One yet.
I've not heard or read the book either (and never seen the original TV run).
What do people recommend? Can I listen to the plays first and then backtrack to the book? I just imagine as an introduction to something new, four plays would be an easier slide into it than a whole book reading.
Basically, I know nothing.

You could certainly start with Big Finish series one if you wanted to - all the info you need is there. Adam (John Dorney's character) is new to the world of Dept Seven, so that offers a good route in.
The book adapts the opening of the TV series - and adds a new ending - so that will give you some further backstory.

Listened to the first 3 episodes and it certainly has potential but it's not an instant buy for me yet (well I already bought Series 2 so I am at least in it for that)
I really love Adam he is an interesting and passionate character. I would be interested to know how similar he was to his father. Are there any noticeable differences. He's definitely my favorite aspect of the series.
I know Anne is from the original series but I just find her less interesting then Adam so far. The two characters also don't have that chemistry or spark for me yet. I don't know maybe if there was a bit more conflict. There was a little. Anne is definitely more cautious than Adam who is young and a bit impetuous.
So far the 2nd episode was my favorite I really liked the cult aspect of the story. Though I do hope there is a bit more variety in the type of supernatural occurrences. I am not sure what the original series focused on.
As for episode 3 I don't think I caught all the nuances but I did see a certain character was back in Series 2 so at least I realized they were important.

I haven't listened to this since it's release over a year ago. I remembered it being good, but I forgot how good. John Dorney MAKES this set. His performance as Adam is one of the best I've heard. I'm not surprised, considering how wonderful he is as Alexander in Farewell, Great Macedon. I'm so excited to hear the next set. dorney, it seems that I now don't have to just listen to everything you write, but I have to keep an eye out for everything you act in as well. It's not really fair that one person could be so talented, but there you are.

Forgive me for butting in, but this is a favourite of mine, and I can't find it - or any of the Sapphire and Steel stories - on the website at all! Here is a pretty conservative link to a review of this terrific, spooky, Dorney-written entry into BF's Sapphire and Steel range.

Remember Me is indeed a really good S&S story. Along with Daisy Chain it's one of the ones I could most easily imagine as part of the show proper.

I haven't heard it. I haven't heard any Sapphire and Steel. Honestly, I have seen it on the website and heard people talk about it, but I have no idea what it is.

I haven't heard it. I haven't heard any Sapphire and Steel. Honestly, I have seen it on the website and heard people talk about it, but I have no idea what it is. Quite simply one of the best TV shows of its time. Not a duff episode. It's sci-fi, mystery, period drama, horror, ghost story...and much more. David McCallum and Joanna Lumley played Steel and Sapphire on TV, David Warner and Susannah Harker on audio - both teams are fantastic. The TV show has some of the scariest TV broadcast at tea-time ever, including anything Phil Hinchcliffe and Robert Holmes dreamt up. HIGHLY recommended. Assignment 2 (the second serial) is some of my favourite telly ever. Chilling. If you know Torchwood, the mastermind behind S&S, Phil Hammond, wrote two eps, the one with the fairies in Series 1 and the one with the circus that posses old film and come out of the screen in series two - a very S&S story, I think. Edit: and thinking of it - if you look at my avatar, I'm wearing a S&S t-shirt.

I never bothered with the audios because I didn't know what it was, and now it seems it's too late.
