I never watched Blake 7 and have yet to listen to the audios but I know many fans on here. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

News agencies reporting the death of Roj Blake. Part of me want to disbelieve them out of habit.
Very sad. RIP.

RIP Blake will always be one of my favorite sci-fi characters. Both the writing and performance of the character adumbrate the dark side of heroism/idealism and the blurry, wavy line between taking a stand for what's right and dangerous fanaticism. Gareth Thomas's wonderful Blake should be the boring 'good guy', but sometimes real life forces layers of morality and doubt even onto unwavering commitment, and he brought that across masterfully. Blake is a meaningful, impactful character even by his absence from most of the last two seasons. Those of you who haven't seen Blake's 7 should take this opportunity to give it a shot. Condolences to his family and friends.

Only 71! Life is both joyful and cruel. Blake will always be my first choice leader (not Avon) for that show. Gareth Thomas's funny contributions in the Soldiers of Love MJTV audio series (obviously not mentioned in the Big Finish notification) is memorable as well.

It is absolutely tragic that we won't be hearing from Gareth Thomas again in the continuation of Blake's 7 audios. Considering that Cavan Scott has recently mentioned plans of recasting Gan. There also had to presumably of been a Gareth Thomas portrayal of Blake in that mix. Figuratively speaking and with wishful event hindsight. It truly would have been a pee your pants moment, if Big Finish did manage to pull off a Fourth Doctor and Roj Blake crossover. I feel such LOVE and affection for Gareth Thomas's entertainment contributions.

I am always struck by this thought when people who are in the arts die that what a wonderful thing it is to be an actor or a writer or a director or a designer and so forth because even though they eventually leave this plane they leave behind all sorts of wonderful memories that we are able to celebrate and share for years to come. Gareth Thomas may be gone but we still have Blake's 7 or Dalek Empire or any number of wonderful things to enjoy.
