Love the cover art! Is this a new designer? Never heard of the adaptor before either.
In the process of working on my retro NA cover for the story; will try to have it done over the next few days.

We don't *KNOW* that at all, do we? BF have never said they'll do this, have they? We know that Original Sin is being adapted, so it's clear that Chris and Roz's apperance in Damaged Goods wasn't an one-off thing with these characters and that there story will be told to new audiences, which includes Roz's end and some sort of conclusion for Chris's time in the TARDIS. Given the corelation between The Novel Adapations and The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield range (telling Benny's time in the TARDIS and what it means for Seven and Ace's journey moving forward), I think it's safe to say that the big events of the New Adventures will come to play into The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield range for audiences farmaliar and unfarmaliar with the New Adventures. We'll probably see Chris in the series and they'll be a callback to Roz., etc. Anyway.....I think your being really odd about this. You disagree with me, fine, but your responses have been really weird and really intense and not really suited to talking about Doctor Who. I mean, I'm up there in the TARDIS.....but.....it's getting really unusual now. I'm going be upfront: any further discussion on this topic with you I'm just not going to talk about it with you. Because your making me REALLY uncomfortable and I come to this forum for fun times. I hadn't seen your edit with the additional text until just now or I'd've replied earlier.. I'm sorry you feel uncomfortable. I can't agree that my posts are 'weird', 'intense' or 'not suited to Doctor Who', I'm just discussing the topic. I felt (and still do feel) you were being factually inaccurate and so pointed that out. So, I'm afraid I think any problem is with the reading of the posts, not the writing of them. But, as I say, I'm still sorry you feel uncomfortable, I can't see why, but I still wouldn't want that.

Just started rereading the book in anticipation of this release. Will finish reading before I listen, I think.

With the rights to 'Quatermass' proving tricky to negotiate, I can't help but think how marvellous it would be if this release led to a series of audio reconstructions of the long lost episodes of the classic 'Nightshade' television series.

I haven't read the novel so I go into this completely blind and with no preconceptions.
Cheers

For what it's worth, this was one of the handful of NAs I really liked. Apologies to any big fans, the tone of many of them just put me off.
I'm probably *less* likely to get this in favor of an audio where I do not already know the story, plus I'm a shameless sale-waiter. I can just say the story is very solid and I hope you all enjoy.

Enjoyed the, even if McCoy spent a lot of time shouting. Nightshade was a well thought out character

I've never read the novel, so I went into this story without any expectations. Honestly, if this is any indication of Mark Gatiss' original writing, then this is the best story I've heard from him! This was very good! Props to Kyle Szikora for adapting it!

This was very good! Props to Kyle Szikora for adapting it! I've not heard the adaptation, but yeah, Nightshade is far and away the best Doctor Who story of his that I've experienced. He seems to have a thing for peaking early, as far as Who is concerned (see also the Unquiet Dead.)

Its really good its the core of the Novel but at the same time doesn't sacrifice any character detail.
In a nutshell a great homage to a significant Novel and a very good story in its own right.

I quite liked it. Review recorded but depends on hospital WiFi to upload it. I hope everything is okay. Of the NA novels I have read, this is one of my favorites. Greatly looking forward to listening to this. Speaking of Gatiss, I rather like his 3rd Doctor novel as well.

My biggest flaw with the novel was its ending in that the Doctor ripped Ace away from Robin. Glad they fixed that and left it ambiguous as it was never addressed in any of the following novels.

I downloaded it just now and was thinking of starting it tomorrow but I own the book and haven't read it and have just decided on a whim to do that first. It'll be the first novel adaptation I've read first - although I now have copies of four of the five McCoy novels they've done before so I'm bound to read them all at some point.
So my thoughts will probably come in a week or so after some subway-bound reading to and from work.

I appear to be going against the grain in this thread, but this release just didn't do it for me. Maybe it's because my own personal 'head canon' consists only of TV and Big Finish, but a number of things in this one either didn't ring true, seemed completely out of left field, or else simply fell flat for me.
The idea of the Doctor growing weary of his travels is an intriguing one, but here it just seems to come out of the blue. The Doctor? Quit travelling--and go back to Gallifrey? What?! It's so wildly out of character that it's distracting. Had this been a thread through previous releases, Monthly Range or Novel Adaptations, it would've been easier to swallow, but here it just seems bizarre.
And Ace all of a sudden deciding she wants to stay where she is, aren't we all a bit tired of that 'surprise' by now? We've already seen it in the Monthly Range shortly before they met Hex and then again when Hex died, then again in the Love and War adaptation... It's old. It's tired. It's not shocking anymore; I find myself thinking, "go, or stay, but shut up about it!'"
Story-wise, I also felt like there were issues. The Doctor's big retirement plan is to think on it...in a village in England? Really? Not any of the millions of other places of tranquil repose he knows?
The monster of the story seems kind of poorly conceived to me as well. I understand and appreciate that this book was written long before the TV series was revived, but at this point we've already seen the idea that the Earth formed around a space monster: the Racnoss, in The Runaway Bride. Seems to me like it wouldn't have taken much to excise that part from this adaptation, to make the dots connect a bit better.
I also found the Doctor's little jaunt to make sure the monster fell into a black hole....well, it's interesting enough, and it fits into what's already been told earlier in this story, but the way it was presented at the very end made it feel rather tacked-on.
Not the best release, IMO. And that stands out all the more with so many BF releases this year having been just top-notch.
