This audio is just pure gold. One of the best ever stories in Doctor Who, let alone Big Finish Originally the logo on the cover was gold as well.

Talking of Gold, Main Range Gold should be the title of the Doctor Who Main Range CD re-issues range, if BF ever do them! Storm Warning should definitely be part of any re-issues though. As it's not just a great story, it is a pivotal moment in Big Finish and Doctor Who history, being the return of Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor. Letting such a title go out of print for physical purchase is criminal. (IMO of course!) You could even have Gold CDs for the re-issues... along with new documentaries and extras. Peoole would buy them! £££...

It would have been the Eighth Doctor logo. And I like the suggestion of re-issues going under the heading of "Gold Editions" unless we have to wait until their fiftieth anniversary!

I think most Big Finish collectors would gladly buy enhanced & remastered editions of classic Main Range releases and starting off with the 8th Doctor aka The Big Finish Doctor makes a lot of sense.

When I asked on the podcast Nick said that they had no plans to do so, but repackaged into boxsets - three collections going up to and including Zegraus makes sense to me. In truth I am not sure that Divergant Universe boxsets would make as much sense...

I've said for a long time that omnibus style releases would make a lot of sense if BF can manufacture them so they make financial sense for them. I think those are entry level releases. I feel like that is especially something that is key for the 8th Doctor but I don't want to waste time preaching to the choir.
I would also say that it is ridiculous that the vinyl special editions are not being made available to CD or download purchasers. They are literally leaving money on the table.

In truth I am not sure that Divergant Universe boxsets would make as much sense... I'd still like to hear a couple of C'Rizz short trips set during the DU arc, filling in some of the character development and backstory, I personally really liked the majority of those eight stories, it was largely the muddled, rushed arc/history of the DU itself that fell flat, if BF were to do that arc again today as a series of boxsets I think they'd have more success.

I have a pic to insert here, but don't know how to. Help!!! If you are on a mobile you have to switch to desktop mode which should be at the bottom of the screen and then you can click the “Add Attachment” button. But it would probably be easier to post it on an image hosting site like imgur and then link to the image as i think the maximum size of file you can share is 1mb which isn’t a lot and most images will be bigger than that. Thats my understanding of how things work anyways, the mods might have a better understanding and have a way to do it. Hope this helps!

I was hopeful that there would be some form of commemorative release with the Eighth Doctor and Charley to mark the fact it had been 20 years since Big Finish had new adventures with the then current Doctor.
To my mind he still is the current Doctor, because he has never left the role and his story is still continuing each year.
Oh well perhaps for the 25th anniversary.

A really good story that launches the 8th Doctor Adventures in style. I've just listened to this (and the 8DA Series 1-2) again and I am amazed how well it holds up. Storm Warning is well written, with a great guest cast and the portrayal of the 8th Doctor is 'spot on'. For me, this story captures the 8th Doctor as we should have seen him - away from the clichéd Britishisms of the TV Movie - and as a romantic space traveller, keen to see the universe again (after the more cynical 7th Doctor).
Personally, this is my preferred portrayal of the incarnation - prefer to to the Darker 8th Doctor we see in later releases. Charley is a perfect foil for the Doctor as well - predates the New Series idea of a more romantic connection between Doctor/companion as well.

Everything seemed to go up a notch with this release.
The artwork, the music, the sound design, basically everything.
I seem to remember at the time there was talk of this being a more cinematic release for Big Finish.
This run of 10 Eighth Doctor and Charley adventures, from Storm Warning to Neverland, are my personal favourite series of Doctor Who in any media.

This along with Chimes of Midnight were my first two BF purchases, via Forbidden Planet in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Listened to the first episode in the car on the drive home, and yes, I was highly impressed. As others say, this really has a Cinema feel to it. Widescreen and big budget. Alistair Lock really shows his talent here and the storytelling is well judged for the audio medium. You always know what is happening, who is speaking and where each scene is played out. And it is well paced, no rushed bits, but fast moving and eventful. A Solid Gold (or Bronze, if you must) release.
