I have my special edition pre-ordered and am surprised that this run of only 5,000 hasn't already sold-out!?
Perhaps the Tenth Doctor isn't as popular as I thought or perhaps Big Finish don't sell anywhere near the level I thought they did...

Sadly, I don't think there are many younger fans who would be intrested in the collector's edition and would find it excessive, particularly agasint the price of the download.
I think Big Finish are going to learn a hard lesson here, even though I can't imagine the overall sale numbers being anything less then staggering.

I dont think BF expect all of the limited edition copies to sell out immediately, they will all sell eventually and I'm sure they won't be too concerned.

At least there's an option to buy the three stories individually on regular CD. Not something offered for Worlds of Doctor Who or Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure.

What would you classify as a 'younger' fan? I was 8 when the first David Tennant series started airing in Australia. I think most people would classify that as a 'prime age' for a kid to be watching Doctor Who (though I had been watching the classic series since I was 5, but that's beside the point ). Fast track 10 years later, I'm 18, so a lot of the fans of Tennant are going to be about that age now, late teens to early twenties. Trust me, some of us (well, this one, anyway) are very interested in this Collector's Edition (I pre-ordered my CD copy within an hour of the news coming out!) Puts it into a bit of a stark perspective, doesn't it? These 'young' fans of the new series are now young adults (and from my experience, the world should start to worry ). David Tennant was the Doctor 10 years ago!!! What a coincidence, eh?

That's why the first opportunity I could get into the site I pre-ordered the collectors edition book. It was a lot easier making the choice than getting on the site with all the traffic! It's times like these I like being on the other side of the world, while you lot in the UK sleep it'll be daytime for me and I'll be downloading and listening to the Tenth Doctor and Donna in full cast audio. Wizard!

A lot of people will have chosen cheaper options, and may only be interested in the stories. So overall this will sale well! on the one hand Limited Editions are not everyones cup-of-tea, but essential for others.

I've added a calendar event for this and edited the title for spoilers so it can be used as the main discussion thread for the complete adventures when released. Single stories can still have their own thread.
Cheers

I have been juggling with the idea of buying the Collector's edition as I am usually an Download Only customer but since my birthday is in a week, I have decided to buy the collector's edition if it has not sold out. Wish me luck!

I am a download only customer, but I HAD to buy the collectors' edition on CD purely due to my love of David Tennant. If only I could call out sick on May 16 to stay home and listen.

I pre-ordered the collector's edition immediately and my personal level of hype is going to make waiting a whole further month a real white knuckler. I'm very excited!
I'm actually not surprised that the collector's edition hasn't sold out yet. First off, I imagine a lot of orders are going to happen in the last month before release. Many of us pre-order way ahead of time, but I think many more wait until closer to the release date to order. Also, I suspect Big Finish has learned a lot from similar releases in the past and they may well have picked 5K because that will allow them to still have copies on hand for people who aren't us, i.e. people who are new to Doctor Who on audio and come to the site specifically for Ten and Donna. Big Finish are guaranteed to get some brand new customers from this release and those customers will be coming in for the next several months. Imagine being a late comer, showing up excited to buy the collector's edition, only to find out that Big Finish produced too few copies of it and it sold out months ago. That would dampen the experience a bit, I would say. I think they're smart to still have copies on hand. It's better for them in the long run.

I'd love to get the special edition CD, but it's over double the price of the downloads to ship to Canada. With four exceptions, I'm a download customer, as cool as all these special edition books are.
