From the BF website today...
We’re pleased to reveal the cover of Blood & Fire and announce the final cast members. Marie Wallace, who played numerous roles in the television series, joins the cast as fearsome housekeeper Dorothea Summers. “We asked writer Roy Gill for a Mrs Danversesque housekeeper,” says co-producer Joseph Lidster, “and that’s what we’ve got! She might only be a servant but you certainly wouldn’t want to argue with her.”
And finally, no Dark Shadows anniversary special would be complete without Nancy Barrett and David Selby. Nancy, who played Carolyn Stoddard, Charity Trask and many others, joins the cast as Isobel Collins with David (Quentin in the television series) starring alongside her as Isobel’s husband Theodore. “Isobel and Theodore come to Collinsport for the wedding of Joshua and Laura,” continues Lidster, “but it’s not long before they find themselves fighting for their lives.” “These guys are stalwarts of both the TV series and the Big Finish audio range,” says co-producer David Darlington, “and are always very supportive of what we do. David in particular is always busy, but they all found the time for us, as ever.”

There is not a word strong enough to describe how ridiculously happy I am about this. To narrow it down to just two reasons - 1) The fact that after all these years, Dark Shadows is still out there, with many members of its original cast (welcome back Mr Karlen), and being recreated by hugely talented people who happen to be in love with the show. And 2) Well ... everything! ******* wonderful.

The cover is simply stunning, it really is! I'm so glad to hear confirmation that Marie, Nancy and David Selby will be in the story... It would be absolutely unthinkable for them to not be in it, of course. Also I'm completely thrilled about the setting for Blood & Fire - the time-travelling epics and their rich casts of familiar faces with sometimes familiar names is one of the things in particular that I think made the original series so great, and we can already tell from the cast list that the fates of the Collinses seem to have been even more entwined with the fates of some other families than we knew. Absolutely fascinating! I would totally pre-order Blood & Fire had I not already done so.

Delighted to hear that Nancy is also on-board, and was waiting to hear David Selby officially confirmed after a few actors had mentioned his name. I make that eleven of the original series cast, which if memory serves makes it the biggest gathering of original Dark Shadows stars in an audio since 'Return to Collinwood'. And with Joanna Going playing such a prominent role, it really cements this as a celebration of Dark Shadows as a whole, not just the original run. While Andrew Collins and Ursula Burton have been with the Big Finish range from the start, Matthew Waterhouse has been a welcome semi-regular, and with them and the newer additions to the Dark Shadows family all involved, the double celebration of 50 years of Dark Shadows and 10 years of Big Finish Dark Shadows is being beautifully marked with something that looks to the past and forward to the future. Wonderful!

Delighted to hear that Nancy is also on-board, and was waiting to hear David Selby officially confirmed after a few actors had mentioned his name. I think Chris Pennock just expected to see David Selby there once he knew it would be a big get-together in the studio and tweeted about him before arriving at the studio. But David was never free to be there on that day. That meant his name was 'attached' to B&F in people's minds long before it was definite that he could actually be available to be in it. In another parallel time, you could have been listening to a version sans Selby and wondering 'but I'm sure people said he was there that day'.

I think Chris was the first one to mention it, yeah, though obviously David Selby wasn't in the photos from the day, though Kathryn had also mentioned David's involvement. Really I think I'd just expected him because he's been such a major part of the audio revival from the outset. Besides, David *had* to be there! He's got the same initials as the show, for crying out loud! Though that then has me wonder if 'Blood & Fire' having the same initials as Big Finish is more than a coincidence...

It really is a well designed cover. And I'm looking forward to its release and the upcoming Bloodline mini-series.

What's interesting is that there isn't anything on the website for Bloodline outside of material in news stories and podcasts. Based on this forum alone there are many people who will happily pre-order based on the strengths of previous audios, most prominently Bloodlust, alone. So how come people can't yet pre-order? It's been stated many times that many productions are funded by the pre-orders, and something like Bloodline, with the massive cast, multiple recording sessions and actor juggling can't be the easiest project either financially or logistically.

I've been thinking about this too. It's on my "pre-order" list and has been since they announced it, but I have to keep checking to make sure I haven't missed the pre-order opening. Cheers Tony

I think there is a curious thing in the cast list for Blood & Fire, which is that Daisy Torme has been cast as Abigail Collins. That would be quite a stretch from the very pleasant Melody Devereux to the rather unpleasant Abigail Collins as we have known her from the TV series, so I'm a bit intrigued over whether Daisy will actually be playing a very different role this time, or whether Abigail will have been a very different character back when Blood & Fire was taking place. Perhaps Dark Shadows' distinguished and esteemed producers observed a possibility of a good story behind how Abigail came to be as we have known her previously (or perhaps Abigail as we have known her suits neither the tastes of the producers nor the listeners)? I can hardly wait for all to be revealed - and I'm quite proud of young Adric having grown up a man of the cloth, I might add... well, unless villainy ensues, of course... It is after all Dark Shadows...

The same person playing Joe Haskell and Nathan Forbes The same person playing Tony and the Trasks (sounds like a pop group) The same person playing Julia Hoffman and Magda Rakosi The same person playing Ben Stokes and Professor Stokes The same person playing Carolyn Stoddard and Millicent Collins . . . .

Of course, the thing about Dark Shadows is it's *deeply significant* when a character looks (or sounds) like another character... Except for the times when nobody notices and it doesn't matter at all

I'm hoping that Daisy can bring a warm and cheery side to Abigail, and somehow it will also be a story of her descent into the dower hateful woman that Clarice Blackburn portrayed. Abigail with a pirate lover, as per one of the versions of the family jewels Willie Loomis is told in the original series certainly makes her a potentially fantastic story to tell.
Do we have any specifics on release dates?

Without wishing to brag, he's not the only one. It's brilliant. Ties up so many eras in one perfect package whilst introducing new sides to old characters. And even enriching the Big Finish continuity. Joanna Going and Daisy Torme in particular are amazing - and Nancy Barrett will crack you up - but everyone is great in it. You guys are in for a treat.

Do we have any specifics on release dates? I'm at the point in the TV show where she's highly suspicious of Vicki and needs only the slightest provokation to bring in the Rev. Trask. Based on Naomi's and Joshua's reactions to her declaring devils and witches, she's been that way for a while. I'd imagine the release date will be June 27th (when the first episode aired) or as close to that at they can get.

The Collinsport Historical Society also wrote about David's involvement here.
