Maker of Demons cover looks very much like a cover the New Adventures would have done. Wonder if that was deliberate.

I can't believe it's taken 17 years for Big Finish to record a Seventh Doctor, Ace & Mel trilogy.
So theres still hope for a future release of a Sea Devil, Silurian, Autons or Jagaroth vs Doctor Who audio drama.

Sea Devils were in the Benny audio The Poison Seas, Silurians were in Sixth Doctor audio Bloodtide, Autons were in Eighth Doctor audio Brave New Town as well as UNIT: Extinction and I'm assuming that like the character of Duggan, the rights for the Jagoroth are tied up with the Adams estate. Otherwise there would be at least one novel, comic or audio would have featured them.

It's that City of Death was written by three different people, two of whom were on BBC staff at the time. And so things aren't clear as to what rights for which bits sit where.

Arh that old chestnut with the rights.

But. They were able to print a novelisation of it. Surely SOMEONE knows who the rights belong to, or they wouldn't have been able to do that.

The BBC printed a novelisation, that's the core point there. The BBC can tell Paternoster Gang stories as well, while, apparently, BF can't.

The BBC also has more money to spend on licences than Big Finish, as well as more clout in these areas.

The rights to Duggan as a character aren't relevant within City of Death as he is already in that story, so consent already exists. All they need are the rights to the story, which are presumably relatively easy to negotiate. It's when you want to write new stories that the character rights become an issue.

I just meant that it seems unlikely that no-one knows how the problem could be resolved. I'm not saying "BBC novelised it, why can't BF use Duggan?" Cause yeah you're right those are two totally different things.
Sadly. I mean who wouldn't love a Duggan audio?

This rights issue is similar to Ash Vs Evil Dead they can reference the first & second movies but not Army Of Darkness?
