Just interested. Mine's probably The Curse Of Fenric.
Regards.

Alot of the Hartnell and Troughton used stock footage. I detest all NuWho music, too loud, too long, too repetitive.

I love the new Who stuff. The worst is the McCoy era. Its way too loud, and never fits with what is happenning.

If I had to say which era of the show's music I go back and listen to by itself, then it's unquestionably the music from Series 5 to 7, though I very much enjoy the music from Series 8, 9, and the RTD seasons. As much as I love Classic Who, I don't really think the music stands out to me - except for the title music, that blows NuWho out of the water no question. Now, if we're talking Big Finish, then that's a completely different matter!

I'm with relativetime on this . Now if we're talking themes, I'd struggle to choose. Cheers Tony

The Classic Series occassionally had some really good music. The War Games, for example.

I'm including Keeper of Traken in with the Davison era, because it was part of the shift that occurred when JNT took the helm.
The music was great for the next couple of years, with memorable bits such as the Cyber-march theme in Earthshock and the festival music from Snakedance. And despite the strength of the melodies, the music didn't overwhelm the dialogue as in did in the McCoy era (I partly blame the introduction of stereo sound for that) or the Eccleston/Tennant period with Murray Gold.
But it's hard not to put the Tom Baker era tops: Dudley Simpson created a characteristic sound for the period without becoming repetitive or tired.

I've always got a soft spot for The Daleks, Vengeance on Varos and Revelation of the Daleks.

I have a stronger opinion regarding what I don't like. The 80's music is just horrendous.

I voted for Eccleston/Tennant. The music for those Doctors is just fantastic. Especially love "The Doctor's Theme" and "Vale Decem", which makes me cry every time. "This is Gallifrey" is also great, as is "Doomsday" (which also makes me cry every time, even though I'm not a huge Rose fan). Love the 11th Doctor music, too, especially, "I Am The Doctor" (which I have on my phone as a ring tone. ) I find it kind of odd, though, to separate 9, 10, 11, and 12, as it's all Murray Gold. Whose music is all pretty much fabulous, as far as I'm concerned.

I think the general mood music and theme opening from Tom Baker's area are the best, though I think the War Doctor on BF is pretty great on that score too. (I like eras like Tom Baker's in general because the music was more understated. It doesn't come blaring out at you, and it isn't horrible 80s sounds...)

I went for Peter Capaldi. All the music in series 8 and 9 were brilliant and a step above the music in other series, although Series 1 - Specials had great music also. Vale Decem is still to be topped IMO.

I love a lot of the music from the early years from the workshop. Listened on its own it's so other-worldly and odd that it's really like nothing else.
For me though, Murray Gold is just a genius. What he's done over the last 11 years is remarkable. The Long Song, Vale Decem, Freefall, Am I A Good Man, The Master Vainglorious....just some astounding music. Seeing the Symphonic Spectacular live was a real treat and getting to say thanks to him after the show meant something.

Save yourself time - make that your signature, we'll all take it as read and you'll not need to waste your time posting the same hate over and over.

It's all good for different reasons but I went for McGann. I really love the gothic/romantic tone it went for, along with some 90's ambient synth. This is the tune I always kind of considered the Eighth Doctor's TV Theme (with "There's a Man I Know" as his audio theme).
