I like Erimem and Peri with the Fifth Doctor. Easily one of my favorite audio TARDIS teams.

I've been wanting to give this story another spin. This is a perfect excuse to do so.

Loved it! I haven't heard The Eye of the Scorpion in a while so I must give it another listen this week, but I always thought well of it. A great Fifth Doctor story.
I always thought Erimem sounded sexy too, so she was a nice addition to the Fifth Doctor's era!

Very good and I think I enjoyed it even more the second time. The alien aspect fit well with the historical time period and Erimem is a great character. Strong in spirit and intelligent. The friendship that forms between Peri & Erimem is definitely one of my favorites of Doctor Who.
I was wondering was it spoiled ahead of time that Erimem was gong to join as a companion. I think without knowing ahead of time this would have been a nice surprise.
But there are definitely a lot of nice twists in this story and until the end I didn't know exactly what was going on. Also had to laugh at the face Peri told them to put on the Sphinx.
Well I plan to listen to Son of Dragon in anticipation of Dracula but I think I may also give the Kingmaker a relisten for more Peri/5/Erimem goodness.

I also enjoyed "The Veiled Leopard" with Peri/Erimem/Ace/Hex. A real laugh listening to those two. Ace was like the big sister to the bunch.

This story and the Spectre of Lanyon Moor made up my first order with Big Finish. I would start this story and not get a chance to finish it so I would start over. After a half dozen times through the chariot chase I finally made it through the story. Peri's introduction to Egyptian entertainment at the feast was quite fun. Antranak reminded me of the Brigadier with an occasionally similar tone in the voice and being the loyal soldier in an unearthly situation.
After listening to this again I'm thinking the opening scenes with the Tardis rearranging the rooms make a nice foreshadowing for No Place Like Home.

I haven't heard this story in a while and it was terrific hearing it again. I actually like the chemistry more than I did before. I think it's because I hadn't seen Peri's TV run and didn't really understand her yet the first time around. I also love the relationship between Peri and Five in Caves and it's great to have more of it on audio.
Erimem is a woman of her time. She knows that she is not the person to lead her country, knows it does not make her any less of a person, and is able to leave without regrets.
It's just a great story with characters that work in the time period, a Fifth Doctor that does more than stand around and watch the action and companions that are perfect in their roles. Just a really great listen.

I do love the TARDIS team of Five, Peri, and Erimen, but I also enjoyed it more on re-listen than I did the first time around. It's really a good story, and I love the way Peri and Erimen very quickly develop a good relationship.

In terms of a historical, it's an interesting one to class. While there are alien/anachronistic elements, they seem to be story telling shortcuts. It's plausible that Yanis could have influenced people to his loyalty through methods available at the time, it was probably easier to have the alien influence.

I think this was the 1st story where I thought Peter Davison was fully comfortable back in the role and so many great absorbing scenes
Erimem's intro
The Banquet
The attempted Coup / Debate (1 of the longest running single Tracks in BF History) but excellent
And Erimem herself is real and aware of her strengths and weaknesses

With Peri she can be a person, not a ruler or a god as she sadly notes everyone else treats her as. Peri is probably the first person in a long time not to treat her with kids gloves. Meanwhile Erimem doesn't argue with the Doctor when he suggests or tells her to do something. She understands that he's a good man and has a good reason for asking what he does of her. As we see in later stories she only really argues when she has developed an emotional or honour-bound investment in doing what the opposite of which the Doctor asks her to do.

Certainly an underrated gem. I think the 5/Peri/Erimem is one of BF's most underrated teams as a whole. Thinking about it, of all the ones I've heard, I don't think there's a bad one in the bunch. Even Nekromanteia has a very enjoyable part one before it all falls apart into the confusing grimdark mess it is. I'm listening to The Axis of Insanity in the car and I always forget how damn fun this team can be.
