I don't think the definition of obscurity really matters anymore. This thread is a convenient location for people not on Twitter or Facebook to catch up on news they may have missed.
So the big question is, why not just post in the "Big Finish Updates" thread?
That's a thread for updates officially released by Big Finish through their news page generslly. This thread could maybe be better served with a different title 'general news' etc, but it's been like this for about a year now in this water-cooler style thread, so why change it now? It's worked up to now

It's worked up to now Well you said it- the last couple updates have been through the official Big Finish twitter page. There is always room for improvement and streamlining . We don't want to go back to a time where there was multiple threads for the same bit of information. Sort of like "Choose Your Own Adventure/Pick A Path" books. it's unnecessary and clutters the forum.

In the Big Finish christmas message we see Annette Badland as being part of The Diary of River Song. River vs the Slitheen?

I'm kind of tickled by eightelements 's suggestion that this be called the '#BigFinish thread'

Crazy question time. If something is posted by BF on their social media platforms, how does that qualify as being obscure? I can see how stuff posted by others on their social media may not alway be confirmed by BF, but when it comes from them directly calling it obscure seems to be erroneous. My personal view is that some of the stuff doesn't even qualify as news - it is just them attempting to make their accounts more active. Agreed. I'm not sure Christmas wishes videos from the actors count as news, let alone "obscure" news.

I dont have a Facebook account, or browse it ever. So anything that goes there is obscure to me.

If my post was inappropriate I'll take it somewhere else, but I figured that posting here was most accurate. It's not an official update or anything and pure speculation. Might be considered a spoiler to certain fans.

Just a thought: in the Tom clip from the Christmas video, the woman on the far left who's never entirely in view appears to be Sadie Miller, as she's tagged by BF in a later tweet listing all the people involved in the video.

I'm kind of tickled by eightelements 's suggestion that this be called the '#BigFinish thread' I was going to suggest something like Social Media Updates but I'm not sure how many posts qualify as actual news/updates. Flash of inspiration: this thread seems to be about linking to any Big Finish-related social media post. #BigFinish posts, if you like. There was no way I was going to ignore this opportunity to jokingly use hash tags, so that's what I posted. Except, that's probably what's happening, right? (My use of social media is...limited.) I was not suggesting renaming this thread #BigFinish. #RenameThisThread #SocialMediaFTW #Hashtag

I dont have a Facebook account, or browse it ever. So anything that goes there is obscure to me. That's your personal choice to not have a social media account which is 101% fine- however, if any news/posts comes from an official "Big Finish Productions" source whether it be facebook, twitter, official page or Vortex magazine it's inherently classified as "official". It is coming direct from the source so it shouldn't be classified as obscure IMHO.

I agree social media updates by Big Finish are technically official, but, as far as I can tell, this thread is mainly bits from CVs, actors' social media or BF staff's social media, which are not considered official, and which tell us something about future releases that are not announced yet, so I don't mind it if from time to time certain announcements are also posted here if they confirm something that we've had some details or has been speculated on for months, or even the Christmas video since we now can speculate about Anette Badland in DoRS and Sadie Miller in 4DAs. It's not like every time some new release comes out it's posted in here, which I guess happens in the Updates thread (that one I don't follow because I already follow their social media, so if any thread's unnecessary for me it's that one).

Might I suggest that this thread is for info that is trickier to find than big press announcements? BF have just put up a social media-only prequel scene to "The Robots". That's official, but sufficiently obscure that in a few years' time nobody's going to be able to find a copy.

We know Tom did a recording for an audio featuring Cleopatra and Marc Antony, so I wonder if that's it.
