It seems to me like it’s one step up from doxxing. Am I the only person here that had to Google doxxing?
On the subject matter in hand; I have no interest in people's CV's or knowing who is being cast in a random Big Finish story for release in 2022. However I am in the ' if it's available on the internet it's not a secret' camp... But what do I know? I didn't even know what doxxing meant!

Hardcore fans go snooping for details about their favorite media. That's how it's always been. And in the absence of (or in addition to) that information, they make up theories. That's just the way it is. The internet makes it easier than ever. Obviously I'd be against outright stalking or hacking or theft, but it's hard for me to condemn leaks like this. It's part of the game - the studio does its best to keep a secret, rabid fans do their best to find out. "Mornin', Ralph." "Mornin', Sam." I'm not a spoiler hound myself. Back in the olden days for shows like The X-Files or Lost, I would avoid it like the plague. But I would say the onus is on the fan to decide if they want to read about leaks or not. And if we strip it down to the raw facts, those fans who do leak and spoil are probably going to buy the product anyway, and a sale is a sale, right? Yeah, I guess I will have to re-think all this. It's been going on so long that I really felt pretty sure BF must be okay with it. Loyal rabid snooping fans get to stumble over a few things early and budget for an instant pre-order, just like we get a discount for pre-ordering and it pays to be loyal and everyone lives happily ever after. It seems to be a new thing if they are stamping Top Secret on the scripts now or whatever. I can wait for the news if that's the case, I just didn't know anyone had been doing anything wrong. I have to say though that those little tidbits, even if they haven't been earth-shaking, have been much-welcome rays of sunshine, especially this past year.

In other news The Big Finish Twitter intern got twitter cancelled for making a joke, so thats fun. Wtf what happened? on todays autopsy with Tom, lets take a look what went down in real time. At 15:22 on the 8th of February, the Big Finish twitter page posted this “ghastly” tweet People got mad and missed the (imo) very obvious joke that Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, doesn’t understand, as shown by a further sarcastic tweet however this flew over peoples heads so the intern made a tweet about irony and said there should be an “irony font” someone subsequently said that there are tone indicators. The Big Finish intern has never heard of Tone Indicators. It went about as well as you can expect. Baso they said this Which led to someone replying about how they can use them on all tweets which led to the big finish intern tweeting, in a now deleted tweet, that big finish could rename the company to Big Fini/s h production /s. People took this as the intern making fun of people who use tone indictors, even tho he clearly wasn’t. since then its been damage control and people dogging on them for no reason really imo but its twitter, do something the mob disagrees with and you deserve to loose your job. The whole thing depresses me deeply, i hope people chill out in how they react to things on social media as this has been so far blown out of proportion it boggles my brain.

I have to say though that those little tidbits, even if they haven't been earth-shaking, have been much-welcome rays of sunshine, especially this past year. Yeah, I thought they made interesting little teasers without really spoiling anything. I mean, if people are hacking and divulging personal information, that's one thing. But if these CVs are publicly viewable, I don't think it necessarily is wrong. Obsessive? Yes. More effort than it's worth? Probably. But not guilty of espionage or doxxing or anything. And that being the case, you'd think the responsibility would lay upon the people who are posting these tidbits and pictures - the actors or whoever. Not the fans who find them. I'm certain Big Finish don't like it much and never have, but like I said, that's the eternal war creators wage against their curious fans. Because at the end of the day, they're only audio dramas. I like them very much, but if someone finds out something ahead of time, it's hardly the end of the world, and I should think we will indeed live happily ever after.

I hope dorney doesn't mind me chiming in with my thoughts, but I know that from talking with him and other writers at Big Finish, they are fans first, and being able to share their projects and releases first-hand is something that is very exciting for them. I know that there is usually a plan for what gets announced and when, so things like Spotlight credits can disrupt those and throw a wrench in it as it were. Basically, small tidbits and teases are perfect for this thread, but I can understand and sympathize with BF and Co when more than that gets out. John, hopefully I don't sound like a totally ass here. That’s okay. I think I’m more concerned with the actors and their privacy, really, rather than blowing reveals. Actor me, rather than Big Finish me. This information isn’t really ‘searchable’. To find it out, it seems like people have to keep an eye out for actors saying they’ve recently done a Big Finish on twitter or who turn up regularly in the audios, things like that, then search the internet to see if their Spotlight page is linked to anywhere and then go there to check whether they’ve given anything away. It’s weird, slightly stalkery behaviour and should be called out as such. As I say, I’m aware that once things are out there, they’re out there, so my concern is less with the discussion after the fact and more with the people who go searching for these things in the first place.

"These past few days, we have had sensitive information intended only for Classified Agents finding it's way into the Public Doman. Damaging Leaks and now fresh discussion of Moles. I think it is time I looked into it."Seems like a case for George Smiley to investigate.

I come to DU, learn new words, speak modern better.

What's most encouraging about that is she calls it her "first episode". Means that even if they're not recorded, there are definitely other stories in the works
