My view is that Peter certainly isn't going to do BF whilst his immediate successor is still in the role, and Matt will not have the time to do so whilst House of the Dragon is an ongoing concern. (It's far too early to say about Jodie, and Jo Martin depends on if Chibnall is planning to do anything else with the Fugitive Doctor -- I've got a nagging feeling Martin might be the surprise guest at the Comic Con panel later today...) We've been very lucky with Eccleston, Tennant and Hurt in a way we can't expect to be with every new series Doctor. And that's before we even get into companions. Hopefully soon after Jodie leaves Capaldi will come back to do BFš¤

Almost goes without saying there can be a big difference between hoping and expecting. Of course, we built up a lot of hope for Eccleston, Tennant and Hurt even for as unlikely as they seemed at the time (I know I still did a lot of hoping for Eccleston even when we were all sure there wasn't a snowball's chance), and I suppose all that hope didn't go to waste. :-)

Tennant was never unlikely, surely? As soon as BF got the license to do new series stuff it was just a matter of finding time in his schedule.

Well, yeah, finding time in schedule. For awhile there I think we thought Disney was never going to give him a day off, lol. Same with his wife, I think - remember "We'll probably never see a Jenny 2 now that she has five kids"? :-)

I am sure DT does his fair share of child-minding! LOL!

Please be Capaldi joining BFš¤ I donāt know what this thing is Kennyās mentioned, but the tendency is for Vortex articles to be about something for the following month, in this case, October - with the proviso that there can be longer leads for things mentioned in the editorial, etc. Anything as big as Capaldi would likely need a far longer lead time from announcement to release. Could be wrong, as ever, but Iād probably advise tempering expectations. It was Torchwood: Soho 2, which I was previewing.

John's written so much -- and so much of that is great and well-regarded (read: good opportunities for follow-ups) -- that I wouldn't even know where to start guessing.

I'm trying to think of Dorney scripts that have some open-ended threads or new characters that could appear again.
Maybe a sequel to The Trouble With Drax? Or maybe it's a script for Stranded 3-4 that continues from where The Long Way Round left off.
Or maybe a return to the planet Chaldera from The Mind Runners/The Demon Rises, that story even ended on a cliffhanger where the villain Shift manages to escape, perhaps they are gonna continue that plot thread?

Peter Capaldi was on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X this morning, promoting The Suicide Squad. They were talking about his voice and how heād be a great DJ. They asked if heād done radio and he said no to being a DJ, but would love to be, but said heād done radio plays, which he found ādrearyā. He did specifically mention where they were recorded (BBC basements) and how they were recorded (no glamour), but he didnāt sound particularly enthused about doing them in general. Basically Iād put less money on him coming on board to Big Finish than before. One for timegirl - Peter & Jenna are good friends and still talk often. When filming Paddington, Peter invited Jenna to watch them filming and gave the street name. An hour later Jenna hadnāt turned up, so Peter checked in and she told him the street didnāt exist. Peter was looking at the street name specially done for the film; Windsor Gardens!

I do remember at the time of his casting in 2013 BF's press release saying something to the effect that Peter had been keen to do a BF (because he was a DW fan) in a guest role but they had never quite managed to make it happen in terms of dates/availability, the right role, etc.

I am sure I read/heard soon after the release that they had more plans for Mr Shift, so I assume that has already been written, recorded and currently resides in the Fourth Doctor virtual vault.

Could see him under the employ of someone such as The Black Guardian who tries to get him to rub out the Fifth Doctor for example.

If the implication of someone being assassinated by a shapechanging psychopath can be viewed as innocent.
