Lol imagine if it was Chris Hemsworth or Margot Robbie. “Oh yeah I turned down a Hollywood blockbuster franchise so I could come to the UK and play the recurring role of Exxilon Number 7.” We joke (and while not Australian) RDJ always seems more engaged with the idea of doing something DW when it comes up in discussions. Of course there's always a chance Peter Jackson might guest Direct one day. Regards mark687

www.youtube.com/watch?v=065WooGa0jMSome Interesting tidbits: Yesterday David Richardson and Jason discussed a doctor who project with Jason saying they could do the project as 18 releases (so 4 box sets basically but David richardson said there might be a problem with that so they are still discussing things) No Chance yet of More Doctor Who Comic Strip Adaptations as they weren't as popular with sales as they had hoped. Big Finish is about to sign up two big name actors to come do a new series for Big Finish (unsure if its Doctor Who Related or not)but James Goss and Scott Handcock are involved with the project The Rights to get back The Tomorrow People are hard and complicated at the moment. Jason teased that there will be a Big Australian Star appearing in the next couple of years but its a person who really loves Doctor Who that contacted them through lock down Also The production/ release schedule currently covers up to 2029. From 1998 when it was just Gary Russell as full time staff BF now have 63 on top the several hundred Freelance Actors and Crew 2019 (last usual production year) saw 322 releases BF's growing diverse Creative pool was already a thing (the work ethic has always been creative and fun) Space 1999 been a big recent hit, New Who Stuff obviously does well, as has the various Master Spin-Offs Illegal DLs still impact the overall bottom line One of Jason's (and Paul Cornell's) original production ideas [which they pitched to TV] was sort of Enid Blytion meets James bond [they may do something with that one day] BF is now a commercial coleuses of sorts with 4/5 Divisions: BF Productions as we know it BF Creative (Animated Shows for Australian TV and the DW Animations) BF Theater (currently awaiting to re-start Touring "Rock of Ages") BF Entertainment (investment in various films) There's another division currently in preparation

Just imagine...

It was her tour/concert designer (or choreographer) who was the big fan, which was you ended up with this back in 2006...

So, who do we reckon this big Australian star is then? Personally I reckon it’s either Tim Minchin or Jason Donovan. Unless Wolverine is due to make an appearance in BF down the line which seems very unlikely. Rove McManus is a huge Whovian . He hosted the only Doctor Who talkback tv show the last couple seasons- was really bad and cheesy but still.

Would mean absolutely nothing outside of Oz though. Depends on whether BF mean "a big star IN Australia" or "a big star..who is Australian". Surely it's the latter as the Aussie market isn't big enough that someone famous there alone has the clout to get a British company to find a way to squeeze them in and get them a gig in lockdown. It must be someone people here would know. Not saying a big star but someone that would be a "name" at least, to hang a release or range on. Are Lou Carpenter from Neighbours or Donald Fisher from Home And Away big Who fans? Or are we going real old school - someone from Sons & Daughters, The Sullivans or The Flying Doctors?

But he’s not Australian He did a Torchwood though and pops up in ANY show eventually so maybe BF just did the awful NZ/Aus mistake? Who would have thought Jim Robinson would be in so many major American productions?

In the 80s, the BBC found importing these Aussie shows were cheaper than making new TV (there were still rules stopping repeats more than once, a major reason why wiping tapes was seen as acceptable, so they coudn't do that) - so the unemployed, elderly, kids on holiday time and sick lived on a diet of these Aussie shows. And Neighbours ended up being far bigger here than it was at home (Thanks for Kylie!). Prisoner (it was called Prisoner: Cell Block H to differentiate from the McGoohan show) was shown about 11pm, again a dead slot for new programming but you couldn't exactly show that during the day. You can get the complete series on DVD - 174 Discs. It was, not sure about now, the biggest TV boxset ever made.

I think the Prisoner boxset is physically bigger I see it all the time at the shops.
