I certainly am. Sounds like fun, even if you don't win.

I'm the other way round - I wrote my extract first (though I may tweak it a little after the family give feedback), but I'm still working on the synopsis. Since the plot isn't the focus but rather a skeleton upon which to hang the character work it has to be lean and mean, and I'm finding describing this the hardest part! I also thought 500 words would be plenty for the synopsis, but I'm going to have to trim ruthlessly while still keeping it coherent. Which is all good practice, of course.
I'm very happy with the story as it sits in my head, so I think I'll finish writing it even if I don't win...

You may as well, Elvwood. The way I see it, it's not the winning that counts but the taking part and if none of us on this forum win, then we can still take our ideas and write them to entertain outside of a commercial release.

I'm going to give it a go. I'll probably send my entry later today or tomorrow, now that I'm finally happy with what I've got. I'm thinking I might do another one, since it was really fun doing this one and I've got a couple of other ideas that I can (and want to) develop, but it all depends on whether or not I have time to do it.

I've done a synopsis for one story and I might develop a second one based on my Two Bakers joke on here just for fun. Doubt they'd go for it but it would be very enjoyable to write a synopsis about a story featuring the Doctor taking on a pair of evil alien bakers.

I've written up a couple of synopses that need a bit of editing but I'll probably do two or three when all is said and done. Helped a friend work out the plot of his entry the other night as well. You may as well, Elvwood. The way I see it, it's not the winning that counts but the taking part and if none of us on this forum win, then we can still take our ideas and write them to entertain outside of a commercial release. And if you think it's a good enough idea, you can even Douglas Adams the story into something that's not Doctor Who at all. Turn your TARDISes into Starship Bistromaths.

I'd love to, but I'm a bit rubbish at short stories. It's the length that really gets me, I often try to do too much in too small a space.

Multi-Doc stories have gone down well in the Short Trips before. It's even funnier to me because (quite a while ago) I was writing a list of fictional businesses for the background of an ongoing (non-Who) project of mine and included the thirteen Doctors in the names (ie. Capaldi's (an Italian restaurant), J & S Pertwee Motors, etc.) and the one I chose for Tom and Colin was a bakery called "The Two Bakers". So if you win, it'll be a reference to your story as well!

Maybe Multi-Doctor stories work best when they're a simple idea?

Maybe Multi-Doctor stories work best when they're a simple idea? I'd say so. Here's a list of all of the Multi-Doc short stories in prose, though: Categorical Imperative (1 to 8)
Death Sentences (6 & 7)
Do You Smell Carrots? (1 & 5)
Dream a Little Dream for Me (2 & 7)
The Golden Door (1 & 6)
The Heroine, the Hero and the Megalomaniac (7 & 8)
Inmate 280 (7 & 8)
Life From Lifelessness (1 & 4)
The Little Things (1 & 4)
Never Seen Cairo (5 & 7)
Not in My Back Yard (7 & 8)
Notre Dame du Temps (7 & 8)
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back (2 & 5)
The Power Supply (1 & 5)
There's Something About Mary (5, 6 & 7)
uPVC (2 & 7)
The Constant Doctor (5 & 12)
Five Card Draw (1, 2, 3, 5 & 6)
Echoes of Future Past (1 & 7)
The End (1 & 8)
The Juror's Story (1, 3, 5, 7 & 8)
The Last Emperor (2 & 6)
Pass It On (2 & 6)
Greenaway (2, 5, 8 & Merlin)
The Glass Princess (1 to 8)
Into the Silent Land (1 & 4)
The majority of these are from Short Trips collections (as the majority of all Who short stories are) - Some have no interaction between the Doctors (ie. Greenaway, where the Docs appear in succession), others have a lot of interaction (ie. Five Card Draw, where the Docs play cards).

Just submitted my first entry 'Death To Life', based on the toys-to-life obsession. Love the title! Best of luck with the entry.
I've been working on my submission all afternoon (seems to comprise of vast quantities of bad-tempered Sixie - all Mel ever seems to say is "Doctor." or "Doctor?" or mainly, "Doctor!"). I'm writing my story out in full before attempting my synopsis and have just reached the 4300 word point. I'm starting to worry that I can't possibly fit this story into 5000 words...
Chriss C.
EDIT: First proper draft completed at 4746 words. That gives me another 250 words to play with after doing some research to make sure my Sixie/Mel interplay is balanced correctly (I love that I get to call watching the Terror of the Vervoids and the Ultimate Foe "research") and after that I need to ensure that my Short Trips format is in keeping with the style of other releases (again, listening to Short Trips isn't exactly as onerous as revising for my German GCSE). This suddenly seems achievable...

Thanks. I doubt it'll win but it's worth a try. Best of luck with your entry. Nice to see someone else who likes Mel as she often tends to get a fair amount of criticism.

I like Mel mainly because she was never given a fair chance in the show. I also have a soft spot for Bonnie Langford who I went to see as Peter Pan when I was very young. At the start of the show, a member of the stage crew came out to tell us that Bonnie had a sore throat but that she was going to do her best as she didn't want to disappoint her audience. She then came out and sang her heart out and it was magical. I'll never forget her for that!

I like Bonnie Langford a lot too. She always seems to give things a good go. I saw her on the last Dancing On Ice tour and she was amazing.
