Suzie Costello would never describe herself as a hero. Not even if she were the last woman on Earth. Turns out, she's the second last woman on Earth, and that'll just have to do. With the Earth frozen in time, Suzie becomes locked in a battle to save the planet and the life of Alex, the last woman alive. Hunted by alien warriors, and, with every hour that doesn't pass, the stakes are only getting higher. Suzie Costello would never describe herself as a hero. But she would say she's someone who always makes the right choices. Wouldn't she? . Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners Written By: Guy Adams Directed By: Scott Handcock CAST Indira Varma (Suzie Costello), Naomi McDonald (Alex), Nicholas Burns (The Referee) Released 6th June 2016 (news story here)

Loved the hunt master robot. Very well written and a nice return for Suzie.

I really liked that! Nice character piece. Hunt master robot was great. I'm tentatively placing this between Doomsday and Everything Changes. Committee connection wasn't big, made sense, seems sort of like something they'd do. Will admit though, I was expecting Suzie to end up being a Committee mole. Perhaps in a future episode

I'm tentatively placing this between Doomsday and Everything Changes. I think this is the first time in the TW series that we get a definitive date. At one point, Suzie notes the date is 29 Nov 2006 (with an unclear number of days in the 'frozen' world following). So, unless I'm very much mistaken, this is one that we can positively place relative to TV episodes. Series 1 (27) of DW started in spring of 2005, then due to the Doctor's goof-up in "Aliens of London" skipped ahead to spring 2006 (12 months instead of 12 hours). So from "Aliens of London" on, we're in the spring 2006 timeframe. Then the last time we see the spring/early summer of 2006 is Rose 'boosting' the TARDIS with a truck in "The Parting of the Ways." After that, the very next episode is "The Christmas Invasion," set on...well...Christmas Day (of 2006). So this TW release very handily nestles in between Parting and Xmas Invasion.

As to the episode itself, it was another solid release. It's nice to get these releases, the Yvonne and Andy and Suzie ones, highlighting characters that weren't ever really at the forefront. And I especially loved the sarcastic bureaucratic robot--made me laugh out loud more than once.
If I had to name one gripe in this, it's that the casting process selected a guest actress with a voice far too similar to Indira Varma's. More than once while listening to this, when the pair of them got bickering over something, I lost track of who was who just because they sound so alike.

This confirms my suspicions that Suzie is pretty awesome if they can keep from killing her. ;-) I found this one of the most engaging BF Torchwood installments to date because of both the excellent performance by Indira and the excellent story. Kudos to Guy Adams for what he's getting away with here including the annoying robot. It's an interesting contrast to the main characters but it's probably nowhere as easy as he's making it look to get it to work out so well.

More than once while listening to this, when the pair of them got bickering over something, I lost track of who was who just because they sound so alike. I got this too. It's a bit like Helen and Liv in Doom Coalition, where they often interact with each other and you need to pay attention to who is saying what to work out who is who.

A great story from the dependable Guy Adams, whoever or whatever he may be. Pretty much The Most Dangerous Game with aliens doing the hunting. The scope was unexpected, with who knows how long the events of the story ran for. I was expecting a reset button ending, but what actually happened was far more affecting. Much like Children of Earth, Moving Target shows how sometimes Torchwood can be helpless against the alien intruders, and this time Suzie was only able to resolve the problem by giving into what her opponent suggested she do. Suzie killing Alex to end the hunt was a gut punch, even when you knew that might be how it would end. Were it Jack or Gwen, the solution would be to confuse the Referee with its own legal terms.
And appropriately enough for the character, despite spending time with her we never learn much of consequence about Suzie. The fact she smuggled a temporal displacement generator out of the Hub, Everything Changes showed Owen and Tosh too were tempted to 'borrow' alien tech. Clever and ingenious, she experimented with the Resurrection Gauntlet and was able to carry out a number of murders under the nose of the rest of Torchwood and the Cardiff police. The only new thing we learn about her is that she didn't pass her driving test first time.
If that's a bit confusing, I loved this story. Another hit for the range.

I really enjoyed this one! I would almost say faultless, but for (a personal opinion) slightly abrupt ending. I understand it was meant to hammer home Suzie's decision without remorse, but the story was just ticking along nicely, and then it just sort of stopped. Still, if I was to rate it (and I'm not much of a rating type person) I've give a 9-9.5 of out 10. As good as Fall to Earth I'd say

God, I love this series. That was terrific. The whole time I thought the end was going to be somewhat predictable and then, well, no. No it wasn't.
@scotthandcock, I am starting to realize that anything that has your name on it will be unpredictable and somewhat disturbing, and that I will absolutely love it.
