Inbetween binging on TV shows I might have squeezed in a couple of animated movies,(two replays and one a first time) a documentary, a mockumentary and a hit movie I've never actually seen before.. Batman Ninja The Garden Of Words Spiderman : Into The Spiderverse Inception For The Love Of Spock Death To 2020 I was surprised how well Spiderman Spiderverse worked. From the description, I was highly sceptical. But somehow, it works. And it works WELL. Truth be told my knowledge of the Spiderman mythos is very, very basic (we're talking the animated series from years back and the old TV series with Nicholas Hammond...🤦♂️) so I entered into the film pretty much blind as to who Miles was and his background history in the comics. Like you I wasn't expecting much, but once the credits rolled I found I'd really enjoyed what I'd seen. I look forward to the day when they announce the spin off Peter Porker : Spiderpig movie..(oooh..a nod to The Simpsons maybe?)..😝

Carry On Screaming! (1966) A blooming masterpiece which really nails the look of the Hammer Horror films. I believe they actually had one of the set designers or one of the crew from the Hammer Horror films now that I think about it. Harry H Corbett also is great as Sidney Bung. Making full use of the comedic skills he no doubt learnt from doing Steptoe and Son. "Frying tonight!"
It is indeed a masterpiece and bonus points to for them including not only a future Doctor but also naming Kenneth Williams' character 'Doctor Watt' and including a joke which as I recall went: 'Good evening gentlemen, I'm Doctor Watt.' 'Doctor who?' 'No, Watt. Who is my cousin, or was. I haven't seen him in years.'
Does that make it part of the canon? As it's a 60s movie maybe he was referring to the Cushing Doctor?

Does that make it part of the canon? As it's a 60s movie maybe he was referring to the Cushing Doctor? Ah. Evidently you're a fellow of great taste. Funny thing is, I once ran a RPG campaign which was set in the Cushing Dr Who Universe and used Fenella Fielding's appearance from Carry On Screaming! as that universe's version of Iris Wildthyme. Said campaign was set in the '60s Dr Who verse and used the premise that Gallifrey or the Time Lords never existed. As such, all the Time Lords are re imagined as humans. See enclosed my description for her; An apparent old flame of Dr. Who, Iris is very much a woman of contradictions. Possibly from the North, probably not, she is best known for her many tall tales. These range from how she was supposedly found on the back of a double decker bus as a baby or that she was once betrothed to a Maharaja. Either way, the good doctor always dreads her making an appearance. Susan and Barbera on the other hand are always pleased to see her and Susan has since given her the nickname of Auntie Iris. A name she is absolutely delighted with. Susan's grandfather less so. Extremely flirtatious and fond of the drink, she also has the odd habit of carrying a stuffed panda toy in her handbag at all times.Even ran a special which was called The Three Irises and had our universe's version of Iris Wildthyme encounter Cushing Verse Auntie Iris and an Iris Wildthyme from a gender swapped universe called Gideon Fawcett, played by none other then Freddie Jones. But now I am just digressing. Carry On Screaming is great and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Under the Skin
(Think if "Spices" was a less bloody British Art House film starring Scarlet Johanson)

At last! I've seen 'Wonder Woman 1984' via Google Play. I enjoyed it, but it's not as good as the first 'Wonder Woman' movie. I'll share more thoughts on the movie very soon on my blog. Stay tuned! Tim.

National Treasure 2: Book Of Secrets - A decent enough film, but semi-forgettable... (I thought this was the first time I'd seen it, but it slowly started coming back to me throughout the second half).
A Veteran's Christmas - Whilst I'd say that the ending was a little rushed, that was kinda sweet...
This afternoon I marathoned the 'Night At The Museum' films (5hrs 11, the second and third being first-time viewings for me), and have to say that whilst I don't know if I'd watch them regularly, on the off-chance I ever have kids of my own, yeah, I'd happily watch them with them...
1 - A fun enough film that I can see why 13yr old me enjoyed
Smithsonian - Whilst I will say that the titular 'battle' could have been trimmed down slightly (such as the minute or two where monkeys slap Ben Stiller), this was fair enough.
Tomb - Decent central idea for the 'finale'. Not necessarily a favourite ever, but I enjoyed it and found the end to be pretty sweet (even if it's then glossed over a couple of minutes later...).

Wonder Woman 1984 - could have done with being a lot shorter but I enjoyed it. Then again I thought the first one was very overrated, can't remember much about it tbh.
Outside the Wire - another boring Netflix film, this time with the most boring actor in the world, Anthony Mackie, in the lead role.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - I don't usually like Will Ferrell, but there are exceptions to every rule. Despite the popularity of the movie, I think it doesn't get credit for being as weird as it is. Comparing this to the usual 2000s Hollywood comedy there are a lot of things that make it stand out - the 1970s setting, the world of the news team, the willingness for truly bizarre occurrences like the anchorman street brawl.
Unfortunately, subsequent films didn't learn the right lessons and decided that surely the key to success is simply to have WILL FERRELL SHOUTING VERY LOUDLY WHILE POINTING OUT THE UNUSUAL THING THAT JUST HAPPENED.

Since last I posted here- How to Train Your Dragon 3A nice ending to the trilogy. Great animation as well. Spider-Man: HomecomingJust like the other MCU entries I’ve seen, this is simply an enjoyable and well made film. Being a Brit I have no idea what the significance of Homecoming actually is though, is it a second prom or something? Homecoming is something I've never been excited about or participated in since I'm not much a sports fan, and neither are my kids. It's usually a weekend in the autumn, usually October around the time the colleges here give the kids a long weekend (Columbus Day). It's usually organized around a high school football game, and they have events welcoming recent graduates back to watch the game. There may be awards and parties, and there is sometimes a Homecoming dance as well. It seems to be more important in rural communities than urban or suburban ones. I think it's to bring the community together and keep people interested in the school and the teams, although I could be wrong. It's the first time the previous high school grads get a chance to come back and see their friends, teachers, etc so it can be meaningful to some.

A triple bill of Dr No, From Russia With Love & Goldfinger. Connery isn’t my favourite Bond, but he absolutely nails it from the go, to the point where it’s arguably diminishing returns with each film after those three. I think the only way to avoid that might’ve been to have done the Blofeld trilogy and picking up from the threads in the film adaptation of From Russia With Love.
Three varied and distinct instalments that are all foundations for Bond films to come. Goldfinger is the film that sets the stage for your typical Bond affair, but it’s easy to underestimate the impact the preceding two had.

Zombieland - It's been a long while since I saw it last, but it was certainly a fun watch to start winding down for the evening over...
Zombieland: Double Tap - Definitely a fun watch after a long & weird Sunday at work. Whilst I will say that I'm glad that I didn't pay to see it on the big-screen, I had a whole lot of fun watching it this evening (even if, I will admit, Madison did grate a little at times)!
Love At The Christmas Table - A sweet 'little' Christmas film made by The Asylum, who would have thought we'd live to see the day? (Wait, was that a pig that just flew past the window?!)

He is so OTT innapropriate. Elf, Anchorman and Step Brothers.. 24/7 laugh every time
