PHEW!! Just watched "Samaritan".. Enjoyed it.. The twist- not sure if I should be "offended" or not given it's a bit of a cliche trope which has been used many times .

There were so, so, so many wonderful horror films released in the early '70s that a lot of them really didn't get the adoration they deserved ... well not until years later. I'm looking forward to watching this lovely big review later!

They really should have done it another way. This is neither here nor there- it is supposed to be a "twist" but is signposted in such an obvious way that I still do not understand why they even bothered with it in the first place.

Jeepers Creepers Reborn....
OMG this is shambolic piffle, I ripped into this one on my Letterboxd reviews, one of the worst movies I've ever seen it makes Uwi Boll films look like masterpieces.

I must be in Ozzyland I heard you mention Ainley but i only realised he's The Master. I think my brain had a senior moment. Awesome review this loved it.

This thumbnail does seem to showcase you brimming with orgasmic ecstasy, a bit like me when 88 Films or Eureka announce another kung fu classic being released.

New vid! A worldwide debut on bluray despite having Tom Hanks in his first lead role, Dungeons & Dragons controversy, some terrific extras that place the film in its correct context. A stunner of a release from Plumeria Pictures!

Arrow Video release this absolutely stunner of a film that woulda fit perfectly with the old ArrowAcademy days. A diamond from Toei and Tomu Uchida in 1965 that looks back to a difficult past and forwards to new films and Japanese culture.

The Batman (2022)
Loved it! And it’s probably the closest we’ll ever get to see to how Batman would operate in the real world.
I’m very curious to see how they hypothetically depict Mr Freeze in the sequel. I’m imagining he’ll look akin to a frostbite victim missing fingers and lips etc.

Jiminy Glick in Lalawood A little annoying in places, but pretty funny over-all. A weirdly off-kilter Twin Peaks element I wasn't expecting.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
Recall really not liking this at the time but having revisited it, I actually thought it quite excellent and dare I say, rather underrated?
Not to mention, Jim Carrey (although still hamming it up) made for at times a rather sinister Count Olaf. His portrayal of Stephano springs to mind as an example.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

It was a terrific film, just too episodic because it was based on the first three books in the series. Although Master and Commander was based on two of the Patrick O’Brien books and Confessions Of A Shopaholic was based on two of the Sophie Kinsella books and they all came out at roughly the same time. I don’t remember any kind of outrage from those three fandoms that the stories were being ‘butchered’ or ‘disrespected the source material’ on their release. I think they were just happy to get some competent films based on stuff they loved. My kids were really into the Unfortunate Events books at the time so we had the movie on fairly high rotation. Carrey is terrific and the dvd has some great little features about his performance which are hilarious.

Almost makes me wish he had starred in an adaptation of Kind Hearts and Coronets at some point.
