It's struck me that Hallie aged quickly. I know it's a standard soap opera trope, but hear me out. She's in her early teens at most during the Gerard Stiles arc in the final present day Main Time Band storyline of the Original Series (1970), but she's a young woman by Carriage of the Damned, which takes place in 1974, about nine or ten years before this story. Clearly I'm overthinking it, but is some ghost putting something into Mrs Johnson's boiled dinners?
My first listen of this and New Character for me Haille,am not going to research her i got some snippets from the story and. i know she is in one I haven’t listened to but is further back in the timeline so hopefully that will shed further light. .I am glad they are still continuing the slight soap opera feel. I like the slower pace of this one as the last one i listened to Flip Side was a real emotional twister. Like i have said before a great run of tales.
Was lucky my usual visitors are away on holiday and had time to fit them all in
I hope you all don't mind that I just tacked our listen-thru onto the existing thread for this release.
This is a story that I didn't particularly like the first time I heard it, but I enjoyed it a whole lot more this time around. What stuck out to me this time was exactly how measured and sane Halie was at the very start of the story. That didn't really stand out for me the first time, but it completely made the story this time around. It's not he best acted story in Dark Shadows, and there are better, but I had a ball listening to this while making apple pumpkins this morning. (They came out great. Wish I could share a few with you fellow listeners!)
These last few Dark Shadows releases were just a fantastic, fun run of stories. I really miss the monthly Dark Shadows stories.
