Just to raise the profile of this month's Subscriber Short Trips by Nic Ford. I was in studio when this was recorded and I know Nic, so I won't review this. Suffice it to say this is Nic's first (hopefully not last) piece for Big Finish. If you don't know him, he reviews on various websites such as Outpost Skaro.

It's a fascinating story with an interesting POV character. Humans as zoo specimens, as well as the view the POV character's race has of it makes for an intriguing moral dilemma. I wouldn't mind hearing more from this writer. The Short Trips are a great way to hear interesting voices and it's a shame Big Finish don't have the licence to print Doctor Who and Doctor Who related fiction anymore. Many of these Short Trips are far better than some of the DW fiction BBC Books is publishing at the moment.

It's genuinely very good.
The pov stuff as well as the over all characterisation is superb.
Well done. I really enjoyed it.
(It's better than my efforts...)

Is the story set during the older nyssa travels in the tardis? Yes and no - it is, but post Emerald Tiger, so after she's rejuvenated. Thanks for the comments BTW, everyone.

This was really great! Probably my favorite SST yet. Let's hope Mr. Ford gets to write some more, and longer stories too!

Tony pass on my personal congratulations it was a first rate treatment and I some respects a shame it was just a short story forgive my ignorance who where the alien species have ever they appeared before. As for the whole piece I actually think Nick ought to look at writing longer full release stuff first rate l gave it 5 out of 5

Nic (aka shinyford) is on the forum, so I imagine he will read this himself! I'm sure Nic would love to write something longer (as would I)!

My first SST, and what a cracker it is too. Add my congrats to shinyford on a well executed story, told from an interesting perspective (reminds me somewhat of an earlier ST with The First Doctor and Ian). I can't help but think a longer version would work really well as a UNIT story (or Third Doctor companion chronicle) surrounding the invasion and Jo ... Told from Earth's side. In fact, you should pitch it right now . Cheers Tony

The cleverest thing about the story is how shinyford takes a simple concept, here the human zoo, and uses it to explore and develop the morality of an alien race. Simply incredible.

I'll add this to my timlines.
I'm sorry, I didn't realise this ST audio featured the older Nyssa in it. I'm going to subscribe to 'The Two Masters' later on for it.
Tim.

Specifically, Tim, it's between The Jupiter Conjunction and The Butcher of Brisbane - but TBH that was a fairly arbitrary choice once I'd decided I wanted old-young Nyssa.

I have placed it already between 'The Emerald Tiger' and 'The Jupiter Conjunction'. But no worries. I'll place it accordingly between 'Jupiter' and 'Butcher'. Thanks. Tim.
