Does The Avengers have a board yet? I didn't know where to ask.

No, it doesn't have one. We can create a sub-board for it here... do you think one is needed? Avengers is one BF series I've paid zero attention to - looking back at BF it seemed to have some traffic, but many of the threads were BF announcements.

We've tried to avoid starting lots of empty boards, but maybe we could do a vote for some of the ranges we've (I've!) stripped back?

I appreciate the "stripping back" it has made the forum feel a lot better. As for the Avengers I haven't been tempted by the recording of old TV stories, but I am eagerly awaiting the announcement of who will be the audio Emma Peel.

I've been watching the old TV series recently. I haven't listened to the audios yet so I wanted to know if they were any good!

Good 1960s drama, not much like the stuff available on TV as those are centred on Steed.

They're great retro espionage fun. Do NOT assume they're anything like the Diana Rigg eps. I know it was said upthread it's just the re-recordings of tv eps but remember these eps do not exist in any form for the most part - unlike Who were we have audios for all the lost eps. There are a plethora of eps where there's no existant script either and it's all been tied together through research and guessworks. These are essentially filling in th truly missing gaps of the series before it became style over sixties substance.

Actually since this section of the message board is compartmentalized, it might not hurt to make more threads for some of the ranges that tend to get less attention? Might just be me but these are usually the ranges where people's input and opinions can be most helpful.
Avengers would be a good case in point because I've been on the fence about it for a long time. I'm still trying to figure out if the audios capture whatever it was I liked about the show so much back in the day, and especially since I never saw anything with Keel.
Had a go at watching the first TV episode awhile back but was terribly unmoved and didn't make it through the whole thing. I've come up with the theory that I never was that smitten with Steed or Peel individually but was very much enamored them as a team. Not sure, but that might explain why the first episode didn't rekindle anything since they probably have yet to develop their teamwork at that point. Will have a go at maybe just jumping right into a later episode and see what my impression is then.

I may be biased, but can I add my vote for The Avengers to get its own forum? I think it more than deserves one!

If I start some threads and just talk to myself in them, will that count?

If I start some threads and just talk to myself in them, will that count? If you don't mind being interrupted, I might join in! The Avengers is my favourite series, but I think it's a good idea to wait for there to be enough conversations to make a forum worthwhile; empty fora feel rather unwelcoming and off-putting to me! I'm sure there will be plenty of chat in January, if not before.

The Avengers is probably my favourite series, well up there with Counter Measures and J & L anyway.
I'm hoping to add to the growing maelstrom of opinion so The Avengers gets it's own board.
I wonder if Alan Hayes has found his way to this forum yet? For those that don't know, Alan and his good lady helped restore 20 Avengers radio shows that were originally broadcast on Springbok Radio in South Africa in the 1970's. They are brilliant....and free....so Google them and get in there!*
* and yes, I will probably be promoting these on my deathbed!

As part of the them responsible for running the forum, I can tell you we get very excited when we know a writer has joined us, and I for one feel very privileged that we are providing a space the writers feel they can partake in.
We've considered (although actually doing it may prove difficult) offering confirmed writers a special badge/membership type so that people know straight away who they are, if/when we do do this it would be an opt in thing, were not going to strong arm anyone into anything, we do really want this place to be a welcoming place for everyone, so if anyone knows any of the other BF writers let them know we are here.
