I suppose I might as well post this in the right thread.
Carrie’s War (Nina Bawden)
Wonderfully read by Zelah Clarke of Jane Eyre fame. It’s one of those texts that although is apparently a staple of most primary school syllabuses somehow passed me by. Glad I finally experienced this albeit it on another medium.

Judge Dredd: America. A really engaging adaptation of this classic Dredd story. I found it a lot more dramatic than the cartoony Big Finish audios, Fiennes' Dredd will divide fans I think as he is not the gravelly voiced hardman but a more subtle softly spoken lawman. Overall I preferred his take but it did take some getting used to. Not sure though if this will appeal to new listeners much.

I was wondering about how Joseph Fiennes' voice of the 'enforcement' officer would come across to the listener. Thanks for letting us know your observation. I also enjoyed your link provided - The Price of Fear. I couldn’t stop grinning when once again hearing Vincent’s sinister voice! There used to be a haunted house themed thing that I would watch of his when I was a young lad that would be replayed during early morning Saturday cartoons. Price’s starring role House of Wax was my first ever 3D film that I saw. My mother, a devout movie goer still to this day, made the effort to take me to see it twice at one of the repeat film viewing theatres during my childhood. And of course, I can’t forget his epic monologue on Michael Jackson’s Thriller. I realize that there generally isn’t as much interest in these non Big Finish (and especially when it's not Doctor Who) audios. So, whenever those who do share their experiences about the other types of available audio drama, that it's appreciated by me and I hope a few others. You’re not figuratively only talking to your hand.

Currently listening to the audiobook of Five on Treasure Island by Enid Blyton.
Seem to recall only getting so far as the eighth book when I was younger. Probably about time I rectified that albeit in a different medium entirely.

If you have amazon you can get a 30 day trial with audible & get 2 credits, you can get a free audiobook per credit. I am currently catching up with The Battersea Poltergeist the spooky BBC podcast.

The Marvellous Land of Oz (L. Frank Baum)
A Libravox audiobook of the original text. I’d almost argue that the characters introduced in this are far more endearing and memorable than Dorothy and the Gang.

One of these days, I'll have the constitution to be progressive enough to try Audible. I still have late member Jason Ward pounding in my head telling me to avoid DRM laced software at all costs. Yes, I know. I'm stubbornly missing out on inexpensive pricing along with easy accessibility to popular audios like: the Alien originals, Jeff Wayne's: War of the Worlds, the Sandman, etc.

Okay, I'm learning here...'all LibriVox recordings are public domain in the USA'. grinch - Who was the narrator of your listened to audio? There are multiple LibriVox options of this same story.

Without sounding like a shill, I’d honestly suggest checking out Libravox if you haven’t already. It’s a good way to experience a lot of unabridged, unedited stories that are in the public domain. Especially because they also occasionally do a few translated stories from overseas as well. And the version I listened to was narrated by Bob Neufield. Although other readers were brought in to voice the various characters.

A Scandal in Bohemia (Arthur Conan Doyle)
A Libravox recording of the original tale by the always excellent Greg Wagland. This story in itself marks the debut appearance of a certain other famous character of the Sherlock Holmes literary canon.

Sleuth (Anthony Schaffer) m.youtube.com/watch?v=1mnbBiT8fBMAn audio drama adaptation of the original play. Aside from tweaking certain lines of dialogue to be more contemporary it’s still a fantastic script.

Read by Meredith Zeitlan. Either Mr Stine run out of ideas for this one or it just proves that there is only so much you can do with the idea of an evil camera.

Probarly the first say cheese and die story without Greg which makes me wonder if he survived the ending of the second book Ryan gosling played him in the tv show
