The Minds of Magnox (Darren Jones)
Read by Jacob Dudman. Thought this was simply quite excellent. Has a really intriguing setting and Dudman makes for an superb reader. Even gives some much needed depth and insight into Brian the Ood which was sorely lacking in his adventure with the Eighth Doctor. Just a shame Silas Carson couldn’t have provided the voice for him in this reading.
Personally, I’d go so far as to say this release is far superior to the trilogy Big Finish put out for this Time Lord Victorious event.

Galaxy Four (William Emms)
Narrated by Peter Purves. Thought this was a very solid story and in some respects quite underrated. And the Rills are easily up there in terms of my favourite one off aliens.

Festive Who (well technically, it is set on Christmas Eve)
Hornets’ Nest This is very much Paul Magrs’ more out there on Doctor Who, but it works and Tom Baker’s heavy narration fits it. As Baker’s debut, this is about as far from his TV stories as possible and if I’m honest I actually prefer this compared to the “Saturday evening in 1977” style Big Finish initially went with.

To celebrate the day, I'll be listening to Better Watch Out and Fairytale of Salzburg from Ravenous 2! I'm already very excited to revisit this two-parter!
And then, time and health permitting, my big gift to myself will be listening to the latest 9DA and 8DA sets!

Mistborn - The Final Empire - Graphic Audio.
After sleeping through the Audible version, this is so much more to my liking.

Mistborn - The Final Empire - Graphic Audio. After sleeping through the Audible version, this is so much more to my liking. Graphic audio? Why I ain't never heared of such a thang. What's it like? I think there was a comic adaptation, right? So I'm imagining a regular audiobook reading on top of panels from the comic.

It’s a combination of narration and voice acting. I think they do comic adaptations as well - never checked them out.

So there's no actual visual component?
I may check that out. I've been feeling like rereading the Mistborn books soon (which for me means within the next year or two). I've been really enjoying the Skyward series... was both bummed and elated to discover the third book wasn't the conclusion to a trilogy.

I’ve just begun with Mistborn and it’s growing on me. I’ve read none of the books yet. Directly started with this.

A Big Hand for the Doctor What did you think of it? This one seems to be pretty reviled in some circles.

Medusa on the Beach (Marty Ross)
This story brought to us from the Wireless Theatre Company, the same broadcaster which brought us the quite frankly excellent Spring-Heel Saga. If you haven’t listened to that yet, then I strongly implore you do so immediately.
Found this one quite odd if truth be told. Part soap opera, part horror. Unfortunately, I found it quite a let down with some very hammy performances.

The Savages (Ian Stuart Black)
Narrated by Peter Purves. Aside from acknowledging that this would be the last story featuring Steven, I have for some reason not given this story much thought in the part.
Which is crying shame as it’s bloody marvellous. A great science fiction story with some really good characters in it. Jano is of course the standout character but it also contains some great Hartnell outbursts.
Would recommend highly and dare I say even rate it as somewhat underrated.

Justice League Dark Based on the unproduced screenplay written by Guillermo Del Toro. Not sure how well it would have fared as a films but as a fan production it’s actually pretty good. m.youtube.com/watch?v=4XrkJEG8eG4

Around the World in Eighty Days (Jules Verne)
Dramatised for Audible by Anna Lea. A quite frankly excellent and extremely faithful adaptation of one of my favourite Jules Verne stories. And although I still consider the likes of Leslie Phillips and David Niven to be the perfect Phileas Fogg(s) I thought Toby Jones did a grand job.
