Tenth Doctor Tales. Really enjoying it so far. A good substitute for not being able to afford the Big Finish box set.

The Radio 4 adaptation of The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham. An outstanding production with a lot of genuinely unsettling moments. Listening to it left me wanting more so I'm going to check out some of the other BBC productions of Wyndham's work.

Deep Station Emerald - a deep sea research station encounters something weird on the sea bed...and one of the crew is a murderer.
Ricky Tomlinson is in it too. Half way through episode 1 and liking it so far.

Started the newly recorded audio books of the Bond novels - Casino Royal read by Dan Stevens. The book is a real crackerjack of a story, lean and mean with a lot of good dramatic tension and a lively reading by Stevens.

Cadfael: Dead Man's Ransom. Cracking stuff, Madoc is hypnotic. Yep, the Madoc Cadfael radio plays by BBC are great. It's a pity there's only three of them... Or if this is the only one you've heard, the good news is there's two more of them!

I'm working my way through Kim Newman's Anno Dracula series again. I usually read or listen to it once every year or two. It's a lot of fun, and I enjoy the sly references to literary or historical figures.

Last night, I finished my re-listen of Star Wars: The Original Radio Drama. I started talking about it in a different board, but probably should have posted it here. Today I started my re-listen of The Empire Strikes Back.

I finished re-listening to the original Star Wars trilogy audio dramas. Very enjoyable. Went on to and finished a re-listen of Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith. The story lines are interesting and enjoyable. One thing I noticed more this time than during my first listen-through was the way the stories slavishly touched on many tropes from the original movies. Almost as if they were checking off boxes: This happened in the original movies, so they decided to reference that in this part of the story. And so forth. It's a tad grating, but I still enjoyed the stories. Now I'm re-listening to The Dark Forces Trilogy. I guess that's been "de-canonized" as a result of the new Star Wars movies, but it's a good story. The only question I have is why does every young Jedi have to sound like Luke Skywalker? (In this case, it's, obviously, Kyle Katarn who sounds somewhat like a young Luke Skywalker.) Two more episodes to go in the Dark Forces Trilogy!

Found the old files for the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on a hard drive from six years ago. Love Douglas Adams and Improbability comes into play when you factor I got the omnibus version of the novels for Christmas.

Vince Cosmos Glam Rock Detective in honor of David Bowie. I like to try and figure out which songs/eras they are imitating. The actor's voice is amazing!

Hancock's Half Hour and a smattering of Dads Army from BBC, I do love some classic comedy, I have the Navy Lark and Round the Horne to (listen to as well) Series three of Beyond Our Ken arrived at the weekend. I am so glad they have started to release these on CD again. Although it has been several years since they released the previous series. I hope I don't have to wait that long for series four to be announced!

I must admit I also enjoyed Beyond Our Ken, I did buy some early transfers years ago of some BBC Comedy Goon Show and the quality was awful. I understand now that they have upped their game and most are of a much higher production values now.

Listening to The Tenth Doctor Tales audio collection in the car. First up is Pest Control by Peter Anghelides, read by David Tennant. A good Ten and Donna story, but bizarrely he seems to struggle with Ten's voice on this.
Cheers
Tony
