The Target readings of Web of Fear and Delta and the Bannermen. Seasons five and six really did like their foamy menaces, what with the Web, the Weed Creature and the Ice Warrior pods.

The Nemonite Invasion. Love Catherine Tate, and these stories are fantastic. The Doctor gets a line in about not drinking the water, which has to predate one of his last stories in terms of release date.

Does listening to the Scotland game on the wireless count? Plenty of drama, had me on the edge of my seat, scared the bejabers out of me a couple of times amd in the end left me thoroughly emotionally drained.

I'm currently listening to Divine Comedy: Inferno; Purgatorio; Paradiso (BBC) with Blake Ritson, David Warner, Hattie Morahan and John Hurt. (All 4 of those participants have also performed for Big Finish.)

It was a BBC 'Classic Serial' production for BBC Radio 4, so each episode will be just under an hour long.

Baker's End: The Happenstance PoxOh frabjous day! It's taken me too much long to arrive at Baker's End but the journey was well worth it! A brilliant Gothic-comic-horror with a great cast - and a new Baker - and wonderful writing. It's fudgeknocking fabulous!

(All 4 of those participants have also performed for Big Finish.) How is it? I've just ordered it based off of the actors listed but I don't really know anything about it. How Long is it? Considering that The Divine Comedy's theological and philosophical (and its poetry) subject matter in literature form isn't something that I would normally gravitate to, I did find the BBC audio dramatization of it to be entertaining enough. Great performances, involving sound effects and I felt its story experience was quite immersive. It provided exactly what I was hoping for, a brief story overview (an entry exposure in my case) of what is regarded by connoisseurs to be a literary masterpiece. Hattie Morahan (Beatrice - Dante's Paradise guide) isn't in part 1 and David Warner (Virgil - Dante's Hell and Purgatory guide) isn't in part 3. Blake Ritson (young Dante) and John Hurt (older Dante) feature in all 3 parts. And, there are other voice performers involved. Its combined length is 2 hours and 50 minutes.

I've discovered the "Welcome to Night Vale" series, which can be found on youtube. It's a brilliant mixture of absurdist humor and cosmic horror.

Enjoying The Twelve Doctors of Christmas, listening to one (30 min) story each day as a fun way to start the morning over the holidays, with a mug of tea, shortbread biccie and a different Doctor every day. I'm scoring each story out of 5, plus an extra Christmassyness score out of 5 from 5='Could only be a Christmas story' to 1='Just happens to take place around December 25th' 1/3 of the way so far: 'All I Want For Christmas' (4*, 5C) Plays well on some classic themes of the First Doctor era - Ian and Barbara wanting to get home and enjoyably educational about English Christmasses past, as Ian, Barbara and Vicki are apparently home for an old-fashioned Christmas... {Slight Spoiler}with a mystery and a shock moment for Barbara, before morphing into festive whimsy with a 'scientific' explanation. 'Comedy of Terrors' (4*, 3C) A panto with an alien twist for the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe - and a whiff of something not at all festive. Fun mystery story with a happy ending (of course) which seemed just right for this team and {Monster Spoiler}a new series cross-over - the Slitheen! 'The Christmas Inversion' (5*, 5C) Brilliant Third Doctor, Jo and Mike Yates story, very funny and wonderfully performed, with time for a deeper moment as Jo realises she won't be with the Doctor forever. Loved it, the best of the set so far (and not only because it's my Doctor!) as he meets a force of nature on a very specific Christmas Day... {BIG Spoiler}Jackie Tyler! Halfway through 'The Christmas Invasion'! 'Three Wise Men' (5*, 5C) Clever and suddenly bizarre Fourth Doctor solo adventure where Christmas fantasy meets real scientific history in a way that thrilled and charmed one middle-aged space geek at least. Jellybaby anyone? Excellent and very educational too. {HUGE Spoiler}Christmas 1968 and the TARDIS links up with Apollo 8 round the lunar farside. On a mission for the Doctor, UNIT - and Santa!

Looking forward to listening to these now Cheers Tony They're a great opening quartet of stories - unfortunately I didn't think the same for the Fifth Doctor story I heard this morning. Oh well, it's a Selection Box, there's always one you're not so keen on and at 99p for the lot! I'm not complaining.
