11 forgot all about the Great Intelligence, after all. No, it just took him a long time to male the connection. I'm sure that if they'd had yeti instead of snowmen he'd have caught on much faster

Well, I was thinking that the advantage especially with 10 and 11 is that they could interact with her. As someone else stated, she was surprised that 10 didn't recognize her despite saying it was the youngest she'd seen him......leaving room for audio w/ 10. The other Doctors couldn't interact with her directly in any meaningful way without a memory wipe trope. Which isn't out of the question, but could easily become overused. What you're forgetting is the classic series Doctors would have been ages ago for 10 and 11, so it's likely they would forget certain events anyway. Eh, I'd have trouble buying that if that was their idea. His memory may not be perfect, but (a) he remembers plenty of things from his past, and (b) repeatedly meeting the same person would be something to remember... She'd have to use a foolproof costume/voice manipulator/etc...

A: He likely won't remember everything though and B: we know from Peter Capaldi's current time as the Doctor that he can erase the names of the people he meets.

A scene of eight erasing his memory of her in dc2 would free her up to work with any earlier doc.

Maybe she can ask him to do so, citing "temporal concerns". altenatively, given the universe is full of people who look like each other (including most of history looking like the first or twelfth Doctors) Ruver just introduces herself as anything other than "River Song". Melody Pond for example. Or Rain Singer. Or....

At peril* of getting sucked into other Who-related BF releases, I pre-ordered it. I don't know if I'd want them to end up being entirely Doctor-free; it'd be interesting to have her bounce around between 8, 10, 11...presuming they ever get on board. *(The peril being that posed to my wallet) I don't just want 8, 10 and 11 appearing in Diary of River Song box sets, I'd like to see a variety of Doctors turn up. 4,5,6 and 7 make appearances too. No doubt BF have already given this a lot of thought and probably have a good story reason why River can interact with many Doctors. I'm all for it given the nature of the character. She's one of a few characters that can conceivably stretch across any era of Who. I agree with previous posters in that I very much want to see River's stories stand on their own so I think there should be plenty of them that are completely Doctorless. However, sprinkling in various incarnations of the Doctor in fun and unexpected ways could be a unique element of the River series. I'm not sure if I would buy the idea that the Doctor has met her before and simply doesn't remember. River definitely makes an impression. The explanation would have to do a bit more than just say he forgot over the course of the centuries, especially if she does wind up interacting with the Doctor over many different regeneration's. Also hoping she'll have some adventures with mom and dad and I would really really love it if she had an adventure with Rory's father. That's comedy gold.

I love the idea of River Song having adventures with her Grandfather! It would be great to have Mark Williams back as Brian.
Agentten please write into Vortex and suggest this, just in case Big Finish have not already had the idea! Becuase it is inspired and really, really must happen!!

Am I the only one who preferred the original cover? It just seemed more personal and intimate like a diary is supposed to be (if that makes sense). I liked the original cover that they were displaying for this. But I like this one too.

The cover looks more like The Eight Doctor Adventures: The Diary of River Song. The Doctor is front and center of the box. Like the first release of Benny's new Adventures, Benny is off center to the Tardis, and the Seventh Doctor is much larger on the cover.
It may be a bit nitpicky, but it feels that way.

Well I am most excited for this because of Mcgann & Vlahos' involvement I won't lie.
I am testing the waters with this release as I have mixed feelings about the River Song character. But then again I felt the same way about the War Doctor & I loved that release.
Also if I am not mistaken this will be the first time (not counting novels) that River is being written by someone other than Moffat and I am definitely interested to see where others will take her character.

I guess the Doctor is just more marketable. Especially Eight I've heard. Honestly, the only reason I pre-ordered this was for the Eighth Doctor. If I end up not liking it, I'm gonna feel like a dope.

I'm sure that is the reason, hence the "From the Worlds of Doctor Who" on the cover as well. I'm also aware that this is pretty much sold on the Eighth Doctor as much as it being a "New Series" release.

I don't follow, what's the big news? Just that it's out in January? I'm pretty sure we knew that already....
