Big Finish helping me to escape from the hell Ive realized I'm now living in. Big Finish have helped me escape from the real world for the past sixteen years! They are great for taking your mind off things... and yes, at times, I even prefer my BF fantasy world! Summed up brilliantly Stevo, Big Finish have whisked me away on many great adventures with the Doctor.

I haven't got this story (yet) but i think that amazing front cover deserves another mention!
I know time and technology have moved on a bit, but just compare the cover art we are getting now with the early monthly range.

*Note* I haven't read the thread yet as I've only listened to disc one so far, so I apologise if this has already been covered. This release already seems to be going the way of a lot of Big Finish Dalek stories by feeling the need to 'do something new with them', particularly relating to the cliffhanger to part two (please tell me I'm not the only one who saw that coming?). I just don't see the need to keep adding what (to me) seem like completely unnecessary and somewhat random abilities/powers to the well established monsters (I'm also referring to the TV series here). I initially enjoyed the comedic elements, but they quickly started to wear thin. I think the thing I've enjoyed the most about it so far is the incorporation of the Dalek Empire theme into the incidental score. All in all, not a great first half for me, but I'm keeping an open mind for when I listen to disc two tomorrow

An ok release. Not up there with my favorite Dalek stories but not terrible. The humor was very well done, even though it is far from one of the lighter stories. I couldn't help just staring at the cover art for while listening. It really is a beautiful piece of work.

Episode two, and I'm still very much enjoying this. I love the performances in particular, and the use of the Daleks is inventive. As others have said, the imagery on the cover works wonders, and visualising the story is great fun. A personal thing, perhaps, but for me various scenes are sunk by the use of the dreaded 'comedy music' - this kind of thing has blighted many a TV story and it is irritating to hear it employed here. There's no need. The dialogue and performances are enough - but as I say, perhaps this is a personal thing.

Okay, having listened to the rest of the story, it's gone up considerably in my estimations! The explanation behind the Dalek's 'psychic' abilities was legitimate and believable, and the comedy seemed less intrusive. I'm not one for scores usually, but I'd give this story a solid 8/10

I finally gave this a listen last night and I'm pretty pleased with this release. I like it when writers do something new with an established monster while still remaining true to the monster itself, and I really enjoy Constance as a companion. This is a good start to a trilogy with a lot of promise.

I listened to Order of the Daleks this morning.
I generally don’t get excited about the idea of Dalek stories, for the reasons they touch on in the CD extras. There are only so many variations you can tell of the “Daleks invade a planet and start being jerks” story. However, I always enjoy the Dalek stories once I sit down and listening, and that’s because Big Finish has been very adept at coming up with a great hook that keeps the concept fresh. The stained glass Dalek is a striking visual and extremely well realized.
(Also, I’d better be careful what I say around here. I’ve heard that if you look into your mirror and say “The idea of Dalek stories doesn’t excite me” three times, Nick Briggs will appear behind you and exterminate you.)
I think it was in the CD extras for Criss-Cross that Miranda Raison described Constance as someone who was brave “but without being annoying spiffy-spunky”. I think that’s a great way to describe the character, and I love Constance more every time she shows up. She evokes the same kind of relationship the Doctor had with Evelyn without being a copy, and that’s wonderful.
Asta was fun too. There were times when I did have trouble differentiating the voices of Constances and Asta, but otherwise she was a great character. I have my own biases, same as anyone else, but it makes me happy to see a competent and good-hearted civil servant. Her relationship with Pendle was fun and all the characters bounced off each other in amusing ways.
I had concerns similar to what Whovitt voiced. The thing that really annoyed me about the Dalek puppets in the TV series (beyond how absolutely ridiculous they looked) was that the Daleks already have several ways to control humans. They certainly don’t need another. But I also felt this development was an organic outgrowth of the story, and I was satisfied with the resolution.
And finally, when they kill the Dalek at the end and it says “I am melting!”, I feel they missed an opportunity by not adding “What a world, what a world!” after that.
Entertaining Dalek story that moved a good clip. 4/5.

Just finished episode three, and this continues to rattle along at a fine pace. I'm enjoying it even more than 'Fiesta of the Damned', which was my most recent favourite audio. If I'm honest, I sighed a little when Nick Briggs was cast in the fairly pivotal role of Tanapal - but he's bloomin' good. And I can't imagine anyone else playing the part. Looking forward to episode four, hopefully sometime tomorrow.
I like Big Finish.

I really enjoyed this release, for me it established the conventional but with that way that Big Finish can make it much more their own. I loved Constance as the Doctor's companion in this release. Nick plays the part really well, it sort of came into my head that he sounded like a Hammer House of Horror evil genius. Good stuff. As for a Dalek adventure I think that it was as said probably one of the better stories in recent times

Listened to this last night and Wow! Order of the Daleks is the main range release of the year (so far) for me, it was very enjoyable I must say... and a Dalek story that was a bit different.

Well, I did find it to be quite good. But it did seems to be more on the conventional side. Apart from Time War stories, I prefer the ones that do something new to or with them, rather than have Daleks show up, manipulate people, control people, try to take over the universe, fail...
The Mutant Phase, Time of the Daleks, Jubilee, Brotherhood of the Daleks, Enemy of the Daleks, etc; though, I always love the somewhat more conventional DE1.
