In the latest Vortex there are a couple of pages on Torchwood. The final paragraph is a quote from James Goss:
"We’ve finally got a full-cast box set coming, we’ve an anniversary special which should keep everyone happy, and there’s only more to come."
This obviously refers to Outbreak and, presumably, a third series in the style of the current releases (hopefully more full team stories too!), but there hasn't been any confirmation about an anniversary special until now.
What do you think it will be?

We knew Scott Handcock was recording two things the week of Outbreak so maybe the anniversary special is that second thing?

Yes I agree it can be read both ways Outbreak a full Cast boxset for the Anniversary or Outbreak AND an Anniversary Special "which should keep everyone happy"

Well, now we're obviously going to have to have Outbreak AND an Anniversary Special otherwise we're not going to be happy. I hope lots of stuff of course, but I think I'm going to hope that if Outbreak were the Anniversary Special it would have been touted as such already? Until someone talks me out of it, anyway...

To me, I read it as Outbreak and an anniversary special too. I feel like if Outbreak was the special, they would have worded it differently, as to me it sounds like the special and Outbreak are two separate things. Either way, it sounds like it's a good time to be a Torchwood fan!

From the BF News piece for the release of Made you Look
Torchwood's next release is Torchwood - Outbreak in November. Watch this space for more details
So Outbreak is definitely the next release and its closest to the Anniversery

But there *could* potentially be an announcement about another release very soon (John Hurt's return to the War Doctor was announced only two months before the first release) that coincides with the anniversary itself at the end of October. It seems probable that we're more likely to get more details for Outbreak before then (if there is another release). And, the more I think about it, it does seem unlikely there's been something else recorded for the anniversary... but I live in hope! Do we want to change the thread title to something less definitive like "Possible 10th Anniversary Special Mentioned in Vortex"? I'm thinking it's probably more appropriate at this point.

More Torchwood in whatever form it takes will be welcomed by me, they've been consistently knocking these releases out of the park, so I'm down for whatever they give us at this point.

In this week's podcast I also seem to remember Nick mentioning that there would be more Torchwood this year -- so it seems like there are multiple mentions of something other than Outbreak?

It was stated in the latest podcast that there will be some sort of separate 10th Anniversary release! I'm not entirely certain it's going to be a play, though, rather some form of interview release (going by what was said).

'with absolutely everyone they could get their hands on'. Which could mean that it will have all of the original 5 team members in it

That doesn't say whether they're doing a full cast story or not. Unless it's like the cameo appearances of the companions in The Light at the End, it all sounds very impromptu, which doesn't sound much like a full story to me. I could be wrong though (please!)

Interesting he used the name Torchwood Archive. Has that name been used outside of the Impossible Planet?

it all sounds very impromptu Yeah - we will just wait and see. Trust me. Nothing has been impromptu where Torchwood's concerned... Outbreak alone took us a good year of planning. As for The Torchwood Archive...

Never read too much into casual phrasing.
I'd describe the Dark Shadows 50th Anniversary special as 'featuring pretty much everyone we could lay their hands on', and yet I know just how hard Davy and Joe worked on fitting which actor to which role (and which characters Roy Gill specified intended actors for) and being prepared for 'what if they can't fit it in their schedule?'. And they had an extra advantage Scott and James don't of being able to choose who plays who.
'Impromptu' for BF is probably actually more a case of *more* work as they have to be prepared for 'what if we can't get so-and-so' and have contingency plans in place.

I could ask you Scott to reveal all. But then I'm sure I would be 'retconned', so it would be pointless to ask. Looking forward to the anniversary release
