Tom Baker as the Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana in a adventure with Jago & Litefoot...enough said. Loved it, 60 minutes of pure adventurous hokum with excellent performances all round, i just wish these stories were 75 minutes long to just add more to the drama. Omit the CD extras & have them as a bonus disc on the last release of the season which would allocate a longer run time. Wouldn't really work like that. The stories aren't as long as they are in order to make space for the extras, they're as long as they are because that's what's possible and practical to record and make in the time-frame. Move the extras to a bonus CD and you wouldn't have more story, you'd just have empty disc (see the box-sets - each Doom Coalition 3 story is about an hour, for example, even with a bonus disc). I'm just being greedy John, i understand these stories are structured for 60 minutes, it's a testament to the brilliant writing & performances that leaves me & no doubt many others wanting more.

Was it me or was there an inordinate amount of time given to the sounds of people walking across rooms & opening doors?

I had great fun listening to this and I agree with the comments about how much fun the cast seemed to be having. I thought Baker in particular was in such fine form, every one of Four's lines was full of his special mischief. I also loved everything K-9 had to do. I adore K-9 so I'm a sucker for stories where he has a nice part.

I liked that Inspector Quicke had a respectful but low opinion of the Doctor. It fits wonderfully with Quicke character of the simple copper who only wants a quiet life. I also like that Quicke worked out what the Doctor was implying and understood the basics of teleporting without the Doctor having to explain it.

I listened to this while driving to a convention this weekend. At first I was quite distracted thinking I had already listened to it before or was missing something. I think my mind was mixing a J&L adventure where the 4th Doctor appeared. I just had this big sense of deja vu, especially since it started right in the midst of things. After arriving, I had to jump on the website and my FB and twitter pages to verify that I really hadn't heard it before.
After I finished listening to it, I started it over again without my mind distracted and it made a lot more sense. Loads of fun adn I hope we hear another grouping of this team in the future.

Listened to this one again and really enjoyed it. A nice little mystery, Tom & Lalla are brilliant, and Jago & Litefoot are always good value.
I thought it was fun when I first listened, but the lack of Season 18 vibe clouded my enjoyment somewhat. Now I’m enjoying the season as being a nice transition between Seasons 17 & 18.

I need to relished to this one when I get home to be honest I cannot remember very much about it at all which is unusual for a Jago and Litefoot included episode

Listened to episode 1 again yesterday (episode 2 later today)
Query:
Quick is an Inspector, so this is set after his promotion in J&L season 6. Must therefore also be after J&L have met Six in seasons 3-5, so they are familiar with the concept of regeneration. Why then does Jago remark on the coincidence of the Doctor having 2 friends called Romana if he is already familiar with regeneration? Why doesn't he just realise Romana has regenerated, like the Doctor regenerated?

(Also, it’s funnier).

So maybe Henry was being tactfully obscure to the earlier Doctor. Or he'd forgotten he knew about regeneration! They do lead rather hectic lives.

Fun little story, I thought. Loved hearing Jago & Litefoot and enjoyed all the silly puns and jokes.
