I save a few things, often because of rarity. I'm still saving the last two stories with Tom Baker and Mary Tamm ("my" Doctor and Romana from back in the day), and Old Soldiers because I think it's the last DW with Nick Courtney that I haven't heard yet, and also A Town Called Fortune because it's one of the last two things with Maggie Stables that I haven't heard (Assassin in the Limelight is the other, although I've heard the first part).
I saved up Shada for the longest time and luckily when I got around to it is was just the right moment for me to get the most enjoyment out of it. I like BHTvsTFC's comment about "the audio chooses the listener", that does seem fitting.
Lately, I'm also trying to save the last two stories from the recent Dorian Gray release because who knows if we will ever get any more.
I'm still saving the Sherlock Holmes audios for the right moment, because if there's anything I think I should pay particularly close attention to, it's Holmes but I don't often get to give audios complete and undivided attention.

Pureley because of "time poorness" . I have gone weeks, maybe even a couple months without listening to anything. When I say I am behind, I really mean I am behind- if you go by the formula of listening in sequential releasse order. I just listened to "Phantasmagoria" and "Loups-Garoux".. No# 2 and #20 of Main Range.. I have only listened to 2 Torchwoods so far. It amaazes me, the members on this forum who purchase everything (pretty much) and can listen within the 1st 24 hours. Seriously truly amazed I wish I could do that

I used to save them up in seasons when just starting out. When a Doctor reached a threshold of five or six, I'd listen to them all in one go over the course of the day.
It works nicely for relistens as well, I can recommend my most recent for the Fifth Doctor:

I feel like, as time goes on, I'm doing this more and more often. There's a whole lot of audios that I preordered long ago and that have since come out that I just haven't felt any inclination to listen to yet. I don't want to force myself to listen to a story when I'm feeling burnt out.

That's what I've been doing for the last four-and-a-half years (crikey, has it already been that long?). As the time frame suggests it takes a while to catch up, but I'm actually starting to get there

Sometimes I wait till Iām in the mood. Normally works wonders once Iām ready to take the plunge! Yeah, that too. I had to wait with listening to Gallifrey Time War until I was in the right mood. Since I am very emotionally sensitive, certain stories can really upset me. I wish I had waited with Lies in Ruins of the anniversary set until I had read some reviews, since I got a sleepless night out of it.
For certain stories you just need to be in the right mood. Listening to The War Master Only the Good when you are depressed will NOT really improve your situation...

If you're comfortable answering, what were the stories that helped you back out? Fifth Doctor Cobwebs, Whispering Forest & Cradle of the Snake & Fifth Doctor Stockbridge trilogy. These two trilogys just took my imagination on a journ away from how i was feeling inside, emotionally cut off, alone & afraid. I don't think it's the particular stories it was the escapism that they gave me.

While these days I try and listen to releases within days or weeks of buying them there are a few that have been untouched for quite some time..
Take Jago and Litefoot for example. I picked up Series 11 in January this year, have yet to pick up Series 12 and 13, purchased Jago and Litefoot Forever last June..and have only got as far as listening to Series 10 last November. Believe it or not I have a great fondness for this range of stories and I'm in no hurry to reach it's inevitable end. So when the mood takes me and I do take a step into Victorian London with the Infernal Investigators it's always a moment to savour.
Then there are the four Gershon novels, currently sitting in my backlog for about twelve to fifteen months. I will get round to listening to these..eventually. Other bright, shiny, not as long as 7 to 11hrs of listening have distracted me. In the case of the ones read by Barnaby and Carolyn it'll probably be on a dark and stormy night in late October. Though the way the season we are laughingly calling Summer in the UK is going it might be a dark and stormy night in late August..
Worst offence though has to be against the Main Range (or Monthly Adventures). I don't subscribe and I don't listen in order of release. I cherrypick stories to listen to and I relisten to stories. This means that sometimes things slip through the cracks. Titles get overlooked. And as I have discovered this morning there are at least three titles in the Main Range that have been overlooked...for four years. š³š³š³š³

I try to listen to most stuff as soon as I can after I get it, I am typically about a month behind on new releases.
I listen whilst commuting and my commute duration means I can do 1 CD per day. Hence I can just about stand still in terms of my backlog. Occasionally I listen to non-BF stuff for a while and my BF backlog grows
I don't listen to Dark Shadows, Avengers and Classics straight away - not really sure why. I tend to pick these ranges up in sales, rather than pre-order, and for some reason they never become a priority listen
Finally, there are those I prefer to listen to in one go, thus I held off God Among Us until I had all 3 box sets and I will hold off B7 Restoration until I have all 3

I know Volume 2 has been pushed back to November and I anticipate that it will be released then, but I have a suspicion that Volume 3 is going to be pushed back further than February next year. They're going to have do to a lot of workarounds that the original series outline wouldn't have included, so I hope they'll be able to pull this off without it being too obvious.

Yes, there are some stories I'm saving (as distinct from just having a huge backlog and 20 years of catching up to do!) But that backlog does make it easier to save stories, since I've always got something new to hear as well as the favourites to revisit.
I've been able to collect all of Jago & Litefoot but I'm rationing myself and working through them slowly. Vol IX just enjoyed, Vol X will probably be a special event at Christmas. And that only leaves me two more because I heard XIII when it came out for the 'Talons' anniversary and of course 'Jago & Litefoot Forever' had to be heard on release, and beautifully done it was too. Last of all I will have 'The Beast of Kravenos' waiting for me, since I think David Richardson once said that the 4th Doctor stories with J&L came after all other J&L, so that seems an appropriate way to complete (if I've remembered that right.)
I'm saving 'Doom Coalition' until after the end of the 'Ravenous' sequence. I'm saving 'Transference' for now, thinking of running it as a nightly drama series when the dark evenings of autumn arrive... And right now I'm saving up the current Sixie/Peri MR arc and will binge the lot in September!

They're going to have do to a lot of workarounds that the original series outline wouldn't have included, so I hope they'll be able to pull this off without it being too obvious. It's maybe not that big of a problem, other than for the climax of the arc in episode 12. Going by the Crossfire box sets, some episodes only use 2 or 3 main cast members, so it is quite feasible for them to have a number of episodes without Avon appearing. So I guess that the episodes they have in the can with Avon will be spread more thinly across volumes 2 and 3 rather than just volume 2. Crossfire was a mix of arc and filler episodes, and if Restoration is similar then they may pull a filler episode back from vol 3 into vol 2 and move an arc episode from vol 2 into 3 so Avon is participating in the arc the whole way through. The only major problem will be the climax of the arc in episode 12, because it has to be a rest button in some ways, in order to leave the crew back where we find them in the TV episode Terminal. It would be hard to do that episode without Avon appearing in some way, so they may have to edit in dialogue recorded for other episodes or form the archive.
The other potential problem is that Avon may not have been in all 4 episodes of vol 2, he was only in 2 episodes of Crossfire vol 1, so they may not have that many Avon episodes to work with in the first place.
