Marvel and DC! The big two! Of comics! Who do you prefer?
I know this is a 'contentious 'issue (dammnit, it's important!), but we're a more mature section of the internet, I'm sure we can handle it

I prefer DC because it's easier to pick up and read particular titles without worrying about the annual Summer event coming in and getting in the way of storylines and character arcs. Look at Civil War II. Most of, if not all of the Marvel titles currently have Civil War II plastered on the covers regardless of how much any given issue actually ties into it. One thing I thought DC did right in the New 52 was not letting their events, like Forever Evil and Futures End, take over the whole line in a disruptive way. Any titles not involved in the main event weren't touched except for a month with one-off specials tied to the event.
DC also tend to do families of books, like Batman, Superman and Green Lantern, which mean that crossover events tend to be confined to those sets of books. It's far more manageable to read and collect than Marvel, who throw everyone they can into their crossovers.

I prefer Marvel, no question. They are the ones that have my favourite characters from when I was younger; Spider-Man is my favourite, and always was. Also, Marvel produce Star Wars comics once again. (And they are damn good!)
Batman is the only DC character that I have any time for. So I don't bother with DC comics too much. (I buy more from Titan and Image than DC.)

MARVEL, though that could be from lack of exposure to DC.

Marvel, for sure. I tend to enjoy Marvel's characters more, and the overall tone of their comics/movies/TV shows more. I keep trying to get into the DC comics more, but I'm struggling to ind a good jumping on point, especially since there's so many characters and so much history it's hard to know where to begin. Though, I have to say, I do love the Flash and Harley Quinn, from what I've seen of them.
But, yeah, overall -- Marvel.

Marvel. DC can be too serious and gritty, whereas Marvel comics are often fun and much more laid back.

Rebirth is a great way to get into DC, with the titles all written to be new reader friendly. One fun title I can recommend is Grayson, where Dick Grayson becomes a spy for the agency Spyral. If you like you're 60's style James Bond it's great. One issue has Dick going the whole way while singing an improvised theme song. His partner's catch phrase is practically "you're an idiot Dick Grayson".
Another title from near the end of New 52 that's more fun than it is gritty is Gotham Academy, which follows a group of students at a boarding school in Gotham City. Needless to say, things are always interesting. It's sort of Batman meets Harry Potter.

avengers 1.1
prowler
dr strange sorcerers supreme
slapstick
uncanny avengers
hawkeye
gamora
the unstoppable wasp
the unworthy thor
i buy daredevil in trade. i will always buy captain america or captains america. i have a bunch of the new black panther that i have to read i read the first 2 they were good.
i buy nova and the all new avengers for my nephew his favorite hero nova is switching from avengers to the champions so my pull list will too. and i think ill try the teen titans rebirth with dc's biggest jerk damain. i can give that away to any kids in my life.
so right now i prefer marvel

I have always liked DC comics best batman, sandman, hellblazer, books of magic and other vertigo titles are the ones I bought through the 90's
but have to admit that marvel-disney are making much better movies and XMen movies has a special place.

Definitely DC. They've got Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, who are by far the greatest Superheroes of all time.

I'm enjoying Champions, but it seems it'll lead into yet another bloody event involving HydraCap early next year. That's the third or fourth so far with Inhumans vs X-Men (guess who'll come out better), Monsters Unleashed (at least it's not Hero vs Hero) and ResurreXion. The one title I'm going to be buying regularly, and Marvel might just screw it up. At least DC don't force everyone into a hero vs hero event every six months.

When I was reading comics regularly I was definitely DC over Marvel, by a long shot.

I honestly can't answer this. I wouldn't want to lose anyone of a dozen characters from each stable.

when I started reading American comics during the 70s I preferred Marvel and had little exposure to DC in the Mid-80s I started reading some DCs and they seemed to improve In my opinion After Crisis DC rebooted and was suddenly much better and way ahead of Marvel who were in a gradual decline Marvel hit an all-time low in the 90s and DC, unable to maintain the post-crisis standards, gradually deteriated Marvel got better and kept on improving - DC had another reboot (post Flashpoint) and got worse
now DC seem to be improving but I still place Marvel in the lead (for now at least)
..though I currently prefer Image to both..(amazing how much they have improved since their early days)

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Of the two I prefer Marvel as the characters seem to have a more realistic background and motivation with the villains being a little more nuanced and varied than the cartoonish "Rogues galleries" of DC.
On the other hand, my first love and long-time favourite has always been the Phantom.

I choose based on the characters I like, not on whether it's Marvel or DC. That said, as a kid, I think most of what I read was DC, just cause that's what was available. But I like a lot of the Marvel characters now.
