Variety. Breaking up patterns. Give the people who only subscribe to the Main Range a chance to hear other Doctors. It might be nice to have the 8th Doctor part of the Main Range again. I'm not sure. It's easy enough to get variety. And if people only subscribe to the monthly range, I imagine that's because that's the only Doctors they're interested in. I think it'd just mean fewer stories. Not to mention if those customers coughed up for the SuperSub on the basis of getting Docs 5-7, they'd be entitled to be a bit miffed if the range changed drastically just as the super-sub is starting. That would be the kind of shift I'd imagine a lot of people want to know upfront before coughing up hundreds and hundreds of pounds up front. I see nothing wrong with the current mini-series and boxset model. We're getting 2 disc stories with the 3rd Doc and Jo already, we're getting 2 disc full cast first and second Doctor stories already. Seems to me we're getting the best of all worlds as it stands.

I think it'd just mean fewer stories. Well... unless you know something we don't re the extra (13th) main range release, I'm sure there'd still be twelve months in a year, so fewer stories isn't likely! As Eight started in the main range, an 8th Doctor main range story here and there wouldn't be a problem if the run of 8th Doctor box sets had finished. For instance I'd really like to hear more Eight/Mary Shelley stories, which were very enjoyable and showed great potential... and then nothing! I'd also prefer to see Charley return to 'her' Doctor and see how that plays out, as opposed to her solo adventures. (Which I have no interest in.) There's room in the main range for McGann's Doctor, as that's where it all started back in 2001. What I mean about fewer stories is that a 3/Jo run in the MR (I prefer to call it Monthly Range, personally, as I think all ranges are as important as each other) would probably replace 3DAs. You'd have as many MRs, but fewer extra releases.

The 3DA's are there for the people that like that sort of thing, and long may that range continue as a separate range. I'd have no objection to an 8th Doctor/Mary Shelly story - or set of stories - thrown in to the MR mix one day though. Also, even though the MR features Doctor's 5, 6 and 7 rotating, it hasn't stopped extra releases with those Doctors either; they have all had box set releases in recent years, including the very excellent Fifth Doctor box set, meaning the monthly stories of the MR with 5, 6 and 7 have not stopped special stories featuring those Doctors beng released. So nobody is advocating less stories!

I've never really seen why people seem so keen on other Doctors being in the 'main' range. It would mean for longer stories for Tombo and McGann if they were MR.

Take Tom...Since 2012...
Trail of the White Worm / The Oseidon Adventure The Sands of Life / War Against the Laan The Dalek Contract / The Final Phase Requiem for the Rocket Men / Death Match The Fate of Krelos / Return to Telos The Paradox Planet / Legacy of Death The Pursuit of History / Casualties of Time The Foe from the Future The Valley of Death The Romance of Crime The English Way of Death The Well-Mannered War The Ghosts of Gralstead The Devil's Armada The Genesis Chamber The Helm of Awe
So in five years that's the equivalent of four main range trilogies we've had AND four of those stories were longer than four parts so there's seven more episodes (IIRC) AND we've got all those two parters in addition - some of which have a running time much longer than fifty minutes.
So even if we're only talking 'longer' stories - and putting two parters aside - we're getting round about what we would have if he were in the main range.

And when it comes to McGann - what length is one of his stories anyway? A story on a disc is then part of a boxset sized story which is then part of a umbrella title story.

As DT is going in the West End next year get him to more 10DA's on his days off and BP says she now open to voiceover work (maybe her agents got the message?) though the stories needn't feature an established companion IMO.
New UNIT with Jo Grant and Mike Yates Vs Beevers's Master and some rouge Ood.
6th and older Peri.
Older 7th with a new companion.
A male or older female companion for 8th.
River or Iris with 4th or 2nd.
Regards

Since Big Finish have introduced Big Finish Rarities
I'd like to see them allow 'the Four Doctors' & 'the Five Companions' On general release I think enough time has passed so the general public can get them as well as subscribers

How about some predictions regard the 2017 main range, multi-Doctor trilogy?
I was thinking about what this would be this morning whilst walking the dogs and this is what came to my mind...
With some of the new other range requests I thought a return to the land of fiction could be fun.
The Fifth Doctor in Alice in Wonderland, but he soon discovers it is not the Lewis Carol original
The Sixth Doctor joins forces with The Scarlet Pimpernel. He is already dressed for the era with just a few sartorial enhancements to his outfit.
The Seventh Doctor is on the Argo. With Jason they are on a quest. A quest that leads to the resolution and explanation of why all the Doctors are living in stories.
"Just before you die your life flashes before you eyes" In the land of fiction those past lives have adventures of their own.

2017 Predictions- (semi-wishlist)
With the rumor the Bill Russell is stepping back.. maybe a recasting of Dodo in order to fill in more Early Adventure runs? This way they could still have 4 stories- a Ian/Barbara/Susan story (with Susan narating, maybe even Peter Purves filling in for Hartnell?), a Vicki/Steven story, a Steven/Dodo story and a Ben/Polly story with Chapman?
Blake's 7 announcements and where the range goes from here (not Who I know but...)
Tennant returning for Volume 2, maybe Smith popping in for a Volume 1?
Exploration of 9 without Eccleston- especially if BP is open to audio.
8th Doctor Novel adaptations!!! I cannot say this enough!!!!
I'd like to see a boxset centered around a issue or a threat that pulls in multiple Doctors.. but no interaction.. and out of order. (As in, 6th discovering a threat, 2nd dealing with the aftermath, then leaving a note about unfinished business, finally being adressed by say 7.. and setting up a adventure for 3 that starts the entire cycle)

Like 10-2-6-3 or something. It is also a similar idea to one of the Virgin Decalogs, Consequences, where every short story led into the next in some way or the other.

Third Doctor/Jo story that opened the collection ages ago, but I'll have to go back to it at some point. I love the concept.

The second series of River Song will end with a post-credits scene will see the return of Madame Kovarin and her branch of The Silence.
