On television it has to be The Invasion. Douglas Camfield in the directors chair and Kevin Stoney as villain push it Over the edge for me.
In book form though Killing Ground is brutal.

You never seen the Invasion!!
Strange but true! With episodes 1 & 4 missing I felt the animation might spoil my enjoyment of the story if I didn't like it. Invasion's one of the better animations, really.

It has a nice, crisp quality that fits in with the story. As much as I enjoy Paul Johnson's work elsewhere, I struggled quite a bit with the animation for The Reign of Terror the first time I watched it.

Storyline-wise, Invasion is great and Earthshock (as the title says) shocking, but for me it has to be The Tenth Planet. We get to meet them for the first time, and it results in a regeneration. Nostalgia aside, it's the version of the Cybermen that make it for me. Whilst I was terrified of the EarthShock versions as a kid, the original Mondasian Cybermen are still the creepiest - with their sing-song voices and human hands ... getting chills just thinking about them. Following on from that Spare Parts (but I also have to admit to a guilty liking of the Cybus ones ) Cheers Tony
